So this week has been a thing. I was going to work on a new chapter for Lena yesterday, but instead I had to drive my mom and my two boys to the vet clinic to say goodbye to my mom’s dog, Peanut.

Peanut was wicked old-we think 17? She was a little chihuahua that my mom found on the side of the road about 14-15 years ago. We’re pretty sure someone had been using her as a breeding dog and then dumped her on the side of the road...with a broken pelvis. My mom took her to the vet and ended up keeping her. She was feisty and totally devoted to my mom. Peanut liked to prance around after you let her inside the house, hoping for a treat.

But her health had declined and well, yesterday we said goodbye. It sucked. There’s no other way to really express how yesterday felt beyond that-it just really, really sucked.

There was a lot of crying and we got cocktail stuff for my mom and my friend brought over pizza and we hung out around my fire pit. My friends are great and made things suck less, for which I am grateful.

But it means I’m a little slow today, my energy completely sapped. But I usually feel better when I write, so hopefully tonight I’ll get some words down.

In the mean time, I hope your week is going better than mine.
