Bad News - The Great Data Transfer (Yes I've given it a name!) broke most of the models I use. Specifically it broke the Optimized models. I use a program called Scene Optimizer to decrease the amount of memory each file uses. This made it easier to create scenes that I could load onto my graphics card for rendering, without crashing my computer. It's a function of the amount of memory on my CPU and Graphics card. I now have more memory on both.

My work flow has been to create a Base Model (nude) and then optimize it. Then when I want to select outfits or create hucow phases, I use the optimized model to save time. All those optimized models can't be used anymore.

Good News - The base models were unaffected. The specific break was related to the optimizing program. Although the optimized programs won't render correctly, they load up just fine. This means I have the model I created to use in the recreation. This is huge for Hucow Phases. I would estimate that I have to adjust around 50 dials for every hucow model.

I recreated the current phase of Sadie and Serena, along with several new characters. I finished this morning and started building scenes. Daz Studio released a major upgrade for the program with big changes. This happened in the days my computer was in the shop getting the hard drive moved over. While this slowed me down, I was able to create three pages. One has 2 characters. One has 3 characters, one has 4 characters. Yes I rendered a scene with 4 fully clothed characters in a pretty simple room!

The scenes would have taken 2 - 3 hours on my old computer, if they rendered at all. They took about 20 - 30 minutes!!! All rendered with no difficulty at all. The process of scene creation was also faster. My render/lighting settings are still off. I need to fine tune them for the new changes to the program, and all the modifications I lost.

Bad News - I couldn't move Photoshop over, I had to download it again. All the fonts I use, do not come with the program. I had to buy them and load them into Photoshop.

Good News - All the fonts should be saved on my computer - somewhere. I should be able to find them, and reload them.

Bad News - No posting tonight. Sorry this will be such a light month, but it couldn't be helped. Covid-19, a new computer, or fixing the Hard Drive problem I could have managed separately, but not all three together. June has been a shitty month for me.

I'll focus on getting my brushes and fonts back in Photoshop tomorrow, and then finishing the post-work on the three pages after work. To keep it simple, I'll stay on HFSV7 for the rest of the week/weekend. I'll use this part of the story to fine tune the lighting and rendering.

Bad things come in threes. You should be good for a while now.
