Update to payment settings: how this affects you (Patreon)

Hi everyone,

You may have already seen my announcement on the blog, that I've made a key change to the payment settings on my Patreon page (due to abuse of the previous settings), so now new patrons are charged upfront when they sign up to support the blog here on Patreon. I'd said in the blog post that this doesn't affect existing patrons, but I've just learned that this change DOES in fact have some implications for existing patrons after all. I'm sorry for the miscommunication! 😝I'm clearly still learning about this as I go. 😅

Here's what I've learned:

1. If you decrease your pledge during the month, you will continue to have access to the content you've already paid for until you are charged the new amount on the 1st of the following month. Eg, if you previously signed up for the $10 tier, and then changed it to $5 in the middle of the month, you'd still have access to the Early Access posts for the $10 tier, until the month is over.

2. If you increase your pledge, you'll be charged immediately for the difference, and be charged the new amount in full on the 1st of the following month. At the point at which you're charged, the content relevant to your new tier will be immediately unlocked for you.
