I gotta disagree. I don't find studying to be a sign of inauthenticity or trying hard. In fact, a major problem with artists now is they don't study. It's how we end up with so much garbage. And maybe this is because you've only heard two songs, but to me they perfectly mix the modern sound with the y2k sound. Even in this song. Not that I can't see where you're coming from (and surely with time, they'll evolve), but their whole goal from the beginning was to bring back that sound to a specific audience that love and miss it, because that's the music they love and miss as well. You just don't happen to be that audience. Me, though? I'M LIVING.
