I almost played devils advocate and was gonna give them a little benefit of the doubt, but then he said they American and Canadian lmao. They know better.

Blaccents are the pet peeves of Kpop artists 😂 Very unfunny

I was dead at “EXPLAIN! Explain this nonsense!” 😂😂😂 Now I can’t speak for anyone else besides myself, but for me it’s not that big of an issue. Yes I’m black and have been black all my life, but I’ve always been a pick your battles type person, and for me it’s about intent. Not everybody feels the same way I respect that. For me, if you’re intent when it comes to things like this is foul then I’m done with you, and here in the US we as black folk have been in constant battle with racism at the hands of whites and the intent is almost always foul. A lot of these Kpop idols legitimately respect black culture and people, if you take them at face value, and in their minds imitation is the highest form of flattery. Now, that definitely doesn’t give a pass to some of the blatant nonsense I have seen before, but when I see genuine efforts to learn and try and understand when/why someone is offended, if they are, I can respect that at least. I personally think we have entered an era where everything is racist, homophobic or this “ist” or this “phobic” and it’s really not but hey that’s just my opinion and I have had people say I’m a coon and I hate myself and my race for it or my sexuality and I’m just like…bet okay 😂 It’s like cultural appreciation versus appropriation. Sometimes someone can appreciate a bit too much and it starts delving into the appropriation territory but the intent isn’t to be disrespectful or rude or negative in any way, it’s just a fine line and that doesn’t automatically equal racism. But that’s just my little unpopular and I ain’t no damn body so 😂

Thanks Dee for reacting to my video! This type of behavior is the norm in kpop and in East Asian countries in general. That's honestly why I and a bunch of other people have distanced ourselves from kpop. Mark and Jonny know better. They were born and raised in Chicago(Jonny) and Canada(Mark). Theres no excuse. The only reason their doing it is because nobody is gonna check them in South Korea. That girl Wendy from Red Velvet that you saw in the video is racist too. She has done stereotypical impressions of black people two times, but yet people are still defending her🙄 And the gag is, she was born in South Korea, but at the age of 12 she went to school in Canada and went to the states to finish high school. She has no excuse either.

After watching this vid and reading your comment I can see why you’ve been called a coon before lmao none of what happened in that video was excuseable

Dee that girl Wendy is from Red Velvet you reacted to them last year and u said u liked their music

Im a bts army yet that's only cuz it's been like 4 to 5 yrs since their bs but I'm not the type to filter their past shii. I always laughed when delulus argued with me that the industry wasnt full of ignorance or just plain racism/colorism. I first got into kpop and GIRLLLLLLL the field day u will have when u realize that some of these ppl can get called out and still got the nerve to act like nothing while still repeating this stupid behavior. These idols got phones and these labels target a worldwide audience, it's a shame. Whoever gave dee this recommendation did good😭😂 anyways the unproblematic artists with so much to show, are just keeping to themselves as they should being decent ppl, hence why I tell ppl to stan r&b leehi when they ask for someone who I havent heard anything controversial about ❤. Aside from this video,THERE IS MORE even other idols get mocked, you should know there are many cases where groups and the media get at the darker skinned/tanned idols die to colorism and many south asian idols have gotten harrassed and faced prejudice. The industry isnt perfect at all💀they get at black culture, african and Latin culture, even south asian culture.

I’ve been a kpop fan for almost 3 yrs now. Good thing I’m only really interested in the music and not what they do in their personal lives unlike these die hards( Meaning the fans who go out their way to look at past videos so they can get to “know” the artist more as if they really think these ppl gonna put their real selves out there). The worst part about it is that most kpop fans are either asian or some other ethnicity that isn’t black and they try to defend something that they themselves have no education in or that doesn’t affect them at all. This video made me glad that I was never one of those fans who tried to dive deep into their personalities bc lets be real no matter how much content a group puts they are only showing the personas they’re told to play.

What pisses me off is that she didn’t show them speaking cause they never called it black English or anything they said song words to use such as what’s up or things he didn’t get told say the is he was taught things like abbreviation you would use in. Text setting such as smh or omg or BFF not what they did and all those idols have apologized no it wasn’t excused but people don’t mention that cause they what their videos to go up and do well they made the mistake of labeling it that and copying that style of talk but Johnny and mark didn’t do that cause to my know better they never taught him how to speak with skipping words or in a blackens they taught him English sentences and slang words you can watch the video and it’ll show to why didn’t do what the others did

Kpop is very racist yet always biting off black culture. The issue isn't just the artists but also the fans, i mean look at these long-ass dissertations in the comments defending this fuckshit 🙄

Ryan Haile

They taught slang? What kinda slang?🤨 and nah, I don’t care enough to look up the full thing, Imma stay half informed and just keep my judgment as is lmao, they racist

Ryan Haile

Listeeen, I’ve stayed silent on this patreon for too long, but no more. All y’all out here stanning kpop and people stay talking about kpop like it’s revolutionary or something. It all literally sounds like outdated pop, rnb, or rap music to me. They stay just taking from black culture, but oh well, so does the rest of the world. Don’t matter where you go, black people will always be used and extorted and then still looked down upon. Y’all want good, creative international music that LEADS culture, rather than follows, you gotta look at Africa, period. Afro beat is where it’s at, I said what I said.

deeshanell

Ryan lmaooo definitely agree with the sound being outdated. And not even the good outdated...it's like a watered down, rip off version of old pop/r&b/rap that isn't even done well. I honestly don't get the hype either lol but hey, people like what they like I guess

Bangtanlicious

Namjoon literally educated himself and the group. He's not racist.

the nct situation is new to me… damn, but are we surprised???
