Does anyone know any circumstance where I could use music from a popular song in my animations? Like, can I use a cover of a popular song or can I have one of my characters singing a popular song or can I just use the music without lyrics from a popular song? Or like could I just have her singing the song and making musical sounds like saying the words "dun dun da dun dun da dun every day im husslingggg" or something dumb like that.

I wanted to open up Amy's Big Wish with Amy dancing around her bedroom and singing along to a piece of music but don't want to get hit with some copy write violations or something.

My plan B is to commission a song from someone but I imagine that wont be too cheap... anyway, if you have any ideas or thoughts on this, let me know!

Either you can find some music on YouTube and then convert it into an MP3 via https://www.onlinevideoconverter.com/video-converter or you could ask Lucas King on Facebook to make one. It'd take a while in terms of the latter, but he's made one for me and it took a while. Good question!

Quick overview without legal jargon: http://tubularinsights.com/copyrighted-music-in-video/#101 The primary issue is that due to the patreon, you would be considered making a profit from your work, and subsequently the song if you choose to use it. This is where the copyright violation comes in. If this was strictly public for sharing purposes, then no biggie.

Your best bet agent, just look for a dj online..ask them if they have some premade wav/mp3 files or whatever..sometimes you get lucky and they give it to you for FREE.They just ask you to advertise their name in your video (song by dj soandso).....etc

If you use a copyrighted song without a license, you would be infringing the cooyright, regardless of whether you actually sold it. There are some exceptions, but your use of producing videos including the song would not easily fall into an exception. It may be likely that no one finds out or cares much due to the small scale of production, but you would still open yourself to the possibility of an infringement notice.

Google “sings that are free to use” and you will find sites that offer free music for video productions such as yours. They wouldn’t be popular songs, but they are free.

Edit to the above: “songs that are free to use”

Another search can be for “recordings in the public domain.” Keep in mind that some songs may be free in the public domain, but a particular recording of the song may still be copyrighted.

i might be totaly wrong but.. why dont you use a cover of a popular song.. not a crappy one.. there are alot of good songs right and left... and since people cantask for much ( if any) money you get your song for cheap (or free) and they get a promotion out of it
