Everyone's definitely stepping it up this episode! Can't believe they were able to squeeze in 5 performances in this episode compared to the usual four haha. Slightly disappointed by one of the rankings but oh well -_-'

Feeldog really hit us with the oldschool hiphop feels here. I loved it. Ten’s genius performance is coming up next week I’m so excited😁 The performances in the second half of the show just get better and better 👌🏼 The winning performances and Tens devil performance where epic too though. The way Hoya and that girl LOOKED at each other😅

LisMM

He does... (in my opinion)

elise

Honestly? I wish that Bora won this part, I was so mad because she lost here. I'm a non dancer but I love Tap and this performance is the one who caught my eyes the most in this part, she was having so much fun. I have already watch HIT THE STAGE but every time I re-watch it and look Hyunseung's performance I'm disappointed that he choose the costume over the dance. He could have do so much better Actually, a lot of people know the movie "THE MASK", less today I think but I know this movie even if I'm 18 (it's one of my favorite movie). I watched it at school (who many time I can't count, too much). Kids at my school loved to watch this movie when we couldn't go out for the break 😂 By the way, same though as you for Rocky. The second part is amazing (I loved Ten and Stephanie performance so much )

jeffavenue

Ohh. I guess The Mask is a classic. That makes sense that way haha. I should rewatch it now lol I’m glad you appreciate tap! It’s one the hardest styles out there!

christa rolle

The Mask is not that old ( I am the same age as Rocky), It use to be on Cartoon Network. Also can you please react to Dance High. It has many kpop stars and choreographers as they train other dancers to see who in the best . Ones that you know are Jisung and Hoya. It is about young teen dancers.

Omayma

(Currently watching just wanted to say before I forget) When you said that Rocky is young but he knows the movie you were kinda surprised I was like 🤔 Coz for me that's like a CLASSIC and it's one of my fav movies too Ik it since I'm little and I'm a 2001 I personally find it normal that he knows it, I mean he has taste at least ahahaha just wanted to point it out before continuing to watch ✌ Edit : I finished and yeah I totally agree with you with the ranking and all of that...

Lauren Miller

I completely agree! As a former tap dancer, I remember watching Bora's performance for the first time and just screaming!! It was so. dang. good. and I was so happy for the exposure. All that said... I'm gutted you weren't sold on Rocky's performance! I actually thought it was a fabulous balance of character work, choreo, and tricks; to be honest, if the mannerisms weren't there, I don't think the choreo would have mattered at all, no matter how good. Rocky captured Jim Carrey's expressions and way of movement flawlessly!

Sham Sham

1st-Rocky I really enjoyed his performance. I felt there was a well balance of dancing and focusing on playing the role of jim Carrey. 2nd-Showno Very good musicality, choreo was good. He had different dance genres from popping, isolation and tutting. But I felt like I needed something more. 3rd-Boras performance was soo good. There was a moment we’re I got a tad bit bored but other than that is was awesome, she definitely should have beat hyunseung. 4th-Hyunseung I didnt think he was gonna be shownie bear, let’s be real. Choreo was good. I did feel the female dancers sort of stood out more especially at the super long into😂. 5th- feeldog I was expecting so much more😫 he did a good job, choreo was there, energy was there but I would put him last

camille

I think Shownu felt more comfortable since animation is very team based, not so much focused on him alone as a main character except a few tricks. For Rocky the story was a little fast for me to follow. I also wish there was more dance with the crew like in a big musical finale kind of way (also wanted more choreo with the parter work). I can't even dance with a hat on let alone shoulder pads and gloves, I think that impacted his grove, pops, and power. To be honest I don’t think what sport it was mattered so I wish Hyunseung did soccer or baseball instead, both are very popular sports in korea. His song was also quite mellow which is very different from Football where the crowd and team are all hype. I really liked the bonebreaker though but I don’t get the concept of why he was a dead referee? When I first practiced tap I did it with new shoes on tile because that’s all my house had and let me tell you I tried a turn and almost slipped and died. Tap is so hard to balance even on wood with scuffed shoes and it burns your calves so much the next day. Aside from Feeldog’s great dancing I love his dedication to being first and getting a comeback for his group.

Actually I think dancing on highheels is much easier than you might think. You just need dancing shoes, where the heels are put in the right place, so your balance is easy to maintain. Thats why we use different high heels for different styles and different feet positions. But you can keep your balance in the front part of the foot not on your heels, so it is much easier to spin.

And now I have to wait for one more week to see your comments to Tens performance.... Luckily there is another dance show in China at the moment called „Street dance of China Season 3“ the second Episode was aired today and they have 4 Teamcaptains. Three of them you might know ;) The name of the 4th I forgot. But they have Lay, Jackson from Got7 and Wang Yibo from Unique (and the Untamed). And the show is really good. And if you want to see a nice short clip to smile, search for V dancing on high heels. He did so well!

jeffavenue

The Mask movie was released 1994 and Rocky was born 1999 😂 its older than you guys. But yeah, I didn’t know it was on Cartoon Network so that makes sense! 😁 And yes! I’m doing Dancing High probably after Kingdom 👍🏽

jeffavenue

I love him as a performer but I was just really wanting more dance choreo in it. He did a phenomenal job with the character tho I agree!

jeffavenue

Ooo, yea with your ranking, I can feel the disappointment with the actual ranking since it’s the the exact opposite with the 1st and last place 🙊

jeffavenue

Yeah don’t do tap on tile! Eeeek! I just know that Rocky can do a lot and the performance was quite short. I need a whole concert of him just dancing LOL

camille

Yes they are great dancers! and we've seen Lay,Jackson, and Yibo be good mentors too on dance and survival shows so I'm super excited. I'm watching it with my mom and now she wants to practice dance with me!

Grace Lee

I remember I was just as shocked or even more-so when Shownu lost to Hyunseung. Like FR I can't believe that happened

I never thought of it before but I can understand your point of view. Rocky did a lot of acting there. But isn’t it what the dancing is about? It is supposed to tell a story. And he rocked dancing parts. So I’m really disappointed that he placed last. And I agree, seeing whole concert of him dancing or sth would be awesome. But Astro has ddoca videos, which are kinda vlogs made by the members and they do dance practices at times, but not like just dancing the whole choreo and that’s it. There’s the procès of polishing the choreo, trying it once, twice. And you can really see how effortlessly he turns and teaching it to others. I can link you some if you want. I just feel like some dancers in kpop are not getting enough credit. Like, there are not that many dancers trained in so many styles, including classical. Same goes with Hoshi. (You will see him as a special judge in episodes 7-8 in Dancing High. And yeah, he’s really obsessed with angles.) He participates in almost every Seventeen’s choreo and the group consults choreo with other choreographers for title tracks only. B-sides are made by Seventeen. Performance team disappears then and comes back to living when the choreo is made. And I don’t see enough credit for that. In one interview with a choreographer I saw, Hoshi was mentioned, that he helped with ‘Mansae’ choreo and they both stayed up until dawn to make it, and subtitles completely skipped that part about Hoshi and dawn. And his choreo is always so unique and he’s the master of storytelling (and as mentioned I really love storytelling in dance.) Idk if you noticed, but many, and I really mean many, moves has a meaning. Especially in ‘Thanks’ and ‘Fallin flower’ choreo. There’s so much symbolism, I rewatched it so many times and every time you can find sth new. And same with Rocky, I don’t see him mentioned by not-arohas. They both need more recognition and credit

jeffavenue

Yes I agree! I think Astro are REALLY talented and they’re definitely not getting as much recognition as they should be getting. Their choreos are actually quite complicated. I believe Seventeen is starting to get more recognition but definitely not enough. Probably because of the size of the group for them. People are scared to look into them. For the DDOCA one, is there a link to a full one?

For the balance-in-heels-thing: you put most, if not all your weight in the balls of your feet. If you put pressure on the heels of your feet, you WILL stumble when you pivot.

I was surprised and actually found your comments about all the stages this time to be super interesting! The comments you made on the last few episodes were so similar to what I felt so it was a surprise that this episode turned out really different :D 1. shownu - when I first watched it way back, actually I couldn't really remember it well. Somehow the baggy suits seemed to block the view of the full dance moves. I thought the arm twisting thing was the main highlight of the choreo though. Maybe because popping elements are used in many kpop dance choreos that it was harder to do something "fresh" and memorable. If they made Shownu's costume stand out a bit more I think it would have helped too. 2. I agreed on Rocky's though. It's clear how well trained he is and how beautiful his moves and lines are. It's just totally graceful. The performance really did feel more like a broadway performance though where the acting and singing are the highlights and the dance would compliment. It just felt like I wanted to see him dance more because he was like...so beautiful. If he'd done something like Hoya's prev performance he would have been awesome right? plus super memorable 3. Bora is so cute and bubbly; the performance suited her very much. And it was super cool that she dared to be different. If anything, I remember that I thought it was a bit long because they weren't able to make the highlights pop out as much. As someone who doesn't know anything about tap it was indeed super difficult to understand that difficult techniques to use...She got a 10 from the judges though because they knew. 5. Hyunseung - shoulder pads no-no. Besides that I think the song choice was a tough one. It doesn't pop and stays pretty much the same throughout the whole perf. Not saying it's a bad song but in a competition like this, the choreo, music, theme, concept, clothes need to come together to keep people engaged. His perf. didn't do any of that for me unfortunately. 5. Feeldog - I actually loved this one. I guess I'm seeing it from another POV where I think he and his crew were super careful and planned about engaging the audience. Concept was very well planned and the dance itself had a story (prison break) and the choreo followed that. The intro video was well done (was long but different from Hyunseung who did something simillar with the guys huddled together). I agree the front bit was strangely more captivating than the second half. Might be because there was a lot more musicality in it as opposed to hitting hard and on the beat throughout? The one leg drop at the start was timed so well. It's just a well-planned performance. Even if it didn't meet some people's expectations, I think it's one that's really hard to say you couldn't remember or you got bored and looked away?

Jeff podrías reaccionar a Dance War porfavor. Sentí que aquí la reacción a Rocky fue muy corta y quizás fue por el performance que fue corto pero impresionante.

Sarah Zimmerli

Bora choosing Feeldog to dance after her, wouldn't be the last time she chose him, those two ended up dating. Sadly after dating for two years, they broke up in the beginning of last year.

hayun lee

my rank definitely wouldve been bora > shownu > feeldog > rocky > hyunseung on a pure dancing level feeldog was definitely up there, but i agree that the second half didnt really live up to my expectations since there wasn't much switch in pace/music/atmosphere. it was very consistent though!! rocky i feel like easily couldve been first if he cut some parts out in favor for more choreography because he's easily one of the best dancers in the industry. that said, i feel like his score was a lot lower than it shouldve been, probably because the mask isn't as famous in korea as the joker so the concept was a bit less familiar?

I can't wait for ep.6

Emma Ros

Omg I can't wait for the next episode because it is my favourite performance from Ten!

Bora>Feeldog>Rocky>Shownu>Hyunseung I feel like I need to make an animated gif of your reaction when Bora didn't win--it was priceless! The nice thing about having a panel is at least everyone watching knows that experienced performers thought she was amazing even if the audience didn't. Also, we should remember that they reveal the panel votes after the audience voting has closed, so they don't have the benefit of the panels wisdom. Great reaction!

even jhs's crew member seemed like he didn't agree with bora losing lol throughout the show i was mad with the rating quiet a few times but this one felt genuinely unfair. jhs kept making poor decisions for his stages that wouldn't let him show his skills. maybe the public wanted to support his courage for doing something after leaving the group? on a positive note, i admire bora for beautifully showing off tap dancing which is generally underappreciated, being such a difficult genre.

freya valykrie

Please watch Do Kyungsoo's ( a member of EXO) movie The Swing Kids. I'm not sure if it's still available on Netflix. If I remember it right he trained 6 months for tap dancing. And please comment on his tap dancing. Grazie mille.

Sophia Paramo

Finally a tap piece on this show. I totally agree that the general public doesn't typically appreciate and know how difficult tap really is. I was a tap dancer for over 10 years and watching Bora's performance made me want to get my tap shoes out and dance again.

RisingSunbebe

I will never understand how general public doesn't appreciate tap dance. I'm not a dancer (although I love to dance lol), but just looking at tap always made me think how difficult it is. Bora did a great job really - I was mostly impressed by her skill and will to show something different / something we usually don't see much in an entertainment show like this one. I loved Feeldog's performance (although I do agree with you that the first half seemed stronger than the second) and Shownu's too (although I might be slightly biased there hahaha) - I just think that he made a good decision with animation crew as the style itself was kind of a breath of fresh air too. I wish more people showed a lot of other genres throughout the show in general... I feel like this comment comes late, but I'm only watching your reactions now (slowly lol)... and I watched Hit The Stage when it was airing, so it's nice watching it again now hahaha... oh and also - I feel like people here are voting for a performance as a whole - not necessarily focusing on the contestant, but the whole crew - maybe that's why the results are sometimes the way they are (like Ukwon's Joker performance in the beginning for example)... that might just be my impression. I also feel like it was a great show for some dance crews to be appreciated, I'm sad they never made 2nd season of it.

Anonymous

i love programmes such as hit the stage but I always get extremely frustrated by the votes because you cannot expect them to be professional and then judge them based on the audience's opinion. the public has no background whatsoever in judging dance styles, technique, genres and will probably vote for the most popular ones such as hip hop- related dances and not take into consideration all the hard work involved in ballet for example.

I can remember EXO DO with his tap dance in Swing Kids.

It's pretty funny how you mentioned that Rocky would have gotten a very good score if it's a theatre performance because he originally auditioned for a musical theatre when he was younger (and was very committed to it at that time) but then he ended up being a trainee under Fantagio... But I really want to see him try musical theatre one day...
