With the OGL crisis somewhat lessened, how about head back to the city of Outset with some new creatures!

Today’s new post showcases one of the many urban legends around the First City: the mysterious entity known only as the Flatblade Alley Monster. Inspired in part by the Flatwoods monster of West Virginia, the Flatblade Alley Monster is one of many entities reported to be sighted in the depths of Outset’s crisscrossing streets and buildings. Seemingly relegated to the Squire’s Pilaster, the Flatblade Alley Monster is a mysterious entity who could just as easily be a drunkard’s view of a lantern as it could be a meandering extraplanar entity.

THE TRUTH LIES WITHIN!

In all seriousness, creatures like the Flatblade Alley Monster are the types I adore writing about most. They help define important lore of our setting, while also providing creatures that are interactable at almost any levels. In this, you’ll get a bit of a hint into the concept of destiny in our game, as well as some particular historical events that have happened within Outset. There’s even a little bit of extraplanar lore sprinkled in for good measure.

Oh, and this creature breaks a cardinal design rule. Don’t do this yourself, it’s bad design. But sometimes, a little bad design makes for a memorable encounter!
