there are other groups that are as versatile, like WJSN aka Cosmic Girls (especially their bsides), EVERGLOW (will def get you to put their songs on your gym playlist) and IZ*ONE (eventhough they've disbanded, probably will be rebanded again cause of wiz*one ✊🙏)

My first impression was that this sounds like the most “standard K-Pop sound” lead single I’ve hear from them in a long time, since Fancy. Which was odd, given that this is a Japanese release. But while I’m an old person who hates these half-time beat drops, I absolutely love the surf guitar and Latin horns. That Latin flavor seems to be connective tissue between both their Korean and Japanese releases this summer. Also really loved those red “royal uniform” outfits. Suitably helps sell the “dangerous” feel they’re going for.

I really thought Alcohol Free would be my fave of 2021, but this just came in and snatched that title IMMEDIATELY. I had to watch it literally 6 times in a row to fully comprehend everything. Been on repeat ever siiiince. I also like all the ways Twice connects all their videos visually; I felt like there were nods to Fanfare, Better, Alcohol Free, Fake and True... while still feeling fresh and new. The whole concept kinda reminded me of their TTT Murder Mystery or whatever. Definitely slight of hand stuff going on, and being on a stage and behind stage reminded me of it too lol. Cool new concept and vibe tho <3

I truly think this is a diss track to haters and sasaengs. The Jihyo lines “I don’t need your love” and “don’t make me hate you.” The Mina lyric “My punishment for embracing my dreams”. And all the fans in masks could represent all the faceless online “fans”. All the chaos happening around them representing fandom wars, hate, industry chaos. All the while they keep performing even when things are crazy around them.
