The Incubus System Chapter 780. Obvious

A rush of energy surged through me, a dark aura enveloping my body as the transformation took hold. My appearance shifted, my red eyes glowing with an otherworldly light.

Once the transformation was complete, I used my skill. ‘Teleportation.’

In the blink of an eye, I vanished from my original spot and reappeared directly in front of Elenna. The suddenness of my appearance was enough to startle her, causing her steps to falter and her eyes to widen in surprise. The look on her face was a mix of shock and disbelief, as if she couldn't quite comprehend what had just happened.

Before she could react or utter a single word, I swiftly moved, covering her mouth with my hand to prevent any outcries.

‘Mind Corruption, Read. Everything she knows about demons, demon hunter, me, and the cult,' I ordered.

The rush of information flooded my mind like a deluge, a torrent of thoughts, memories, and insights that weren't my own. It was as if I had stepped into Elenna's mind, experiencing her world through her eyes.

I couldn't help but chuckle at some of the misconceptions she had about me. It was both amusing and intriguing to see how she had pieced together fragments of truths and woven them into her own narrative. Her instincts played a significant role in her conclusions, and while some were indeed wildly inaccurate, I couldn't deny that she had stumbled upon some elements that were surprisingly close to the mark.

But what really piqued my interest were the tidbits that aligned with reality. The moments where her intuition had guided her towards a truth she couldn't have possibly known by conventional means. It was a testament to the power of instinct, a force that often defied logic and reason, yet had an uncanny way of leading us to hidden truths.

Eventually, the flood of information began to recede, and I withdrew from her mind, my consciousness returning to its original state. Opening my eyes, I looked at Elenna, a hint of mischief dancing in my gaze. I couldn't deny that her tenacity and determination had caught my attention.

“Hmm… she could be of use to me,” I mused aloud. Reading her memory made me aware of her use of the company network. But to talk about this, I needed a better place than this.

As Elenna lay unconscious in my arms, I activated my portal skill. When we emerged from the portal, we found ourselves on the rooftop of an abandoned building in the heart of Nighthallow City. The wind howled around us, a fitting backdrop for the revelation that was about to unfold.

I gently laid Elenna on the floor, her form illuminated by the pale glow of the moonlight. She seemed so fragile in that moment, vulnerable in a way that contrasted sharply with the determination she had shown earlier. With a snap of my fingers, I created a small burst of sound, enough to rouse her from her unconscious state.

Her eyes fluttered open, her gaze immediately locking onto mine. In an instant, recognition flashed across her features, quickly followed by shock and a healthy dose of fear. It was as if all the pieces had fallen into place, revealing a picture she wasn't entirely prepared to see.

"AH!" she screamed, her voice echoing off the rooftop as she scrambled backward. Her movements were fueled by a mix of surprise and the instinctual fight-or-flight response that kicked in when faced with the unknown.

I watched her reaction with a raised eyebrow, my arms casually folded across my chest. "You're the one who's been relentlessly searching for me, and now you're acting like you've seen a ghost," I remarked, a wry smile tugging at the corner of my lips. The irony of the situation wasn't lost on me.

Elenna's face was a canvas of emotions – fear, disbelief, and a hint of realization dawning upon her. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, the erratic rhythm of her breathing mirroring the tumultuous thoughts swirling in her mind.

Her trembling finger pointed in my direction, a mixture of trepidation and recognition etched in her gaze. "E-Ethan? So you're the great demon?" she stammered, the words carrying a weight of both confirmation and disbelief.

I couldn't help but feel a surge of dark amusement at her reaction. The girl who had been so adamant about uncovering the truth was now confronted with a reality that far exceeded her expectations. "Guilty as charged," I replied, my tone dripping with a touch of irony. "Seems like you've stumbled onto a revelation you weren't quite prepared for."

Her eyes widened as my words sunk in, the pieces of the puzzle clicking into place in a way she hadn't anticipated. The fierce gaze she had leveled at me earlier had transformed into something entirely different – a mixture of shock, apprehension, and an underlying sense of danger.

I allowed a slow, satisfied smile to grace my lips as I continued to observe her. "First, I was the demon hunter, then the loyal disciple of some sinister cult. It's amusing how wrong those assumptions are," I taunted, my words layered with mockery.

Elenna's gaze bore into me, a mixture of trepidation and accusation shining in her eyes. The pieces of the puzzle were finally falling into place for her, and the realization seemed to send a shiver down her spine. It was as if she had stumbled upon a hidden truth she wasn't quite ready to face.

"That previous incident... Those ghosts... That's all your work, right?" she concluded, her voice tinged with a blend of fear and determination.

I tilted my head slightly, a half-smile playing on my lips. Her intuition was sharper than I had initially given her credit for, and there was a certain thrill in watching her connect the dots. "Bingo!" I exclaimed, my tone light and almost playful. "But I can't give you too much credit for that deduction. It's a bit too obvious, don't you think?"
