Making half a chapter nearly pure exposition interesting isn’t easy. I have no idea if I pulled it off. Ben, in turn, added details I somehow missed when familiarizing myself with the outline.

I’m pleased with how I handled Dietrich Orr’s entrance. Imposing, without suddenly making it the “Dietrich show”. Which is a problem I notice in stories when a character from a previous book makes an appearance, be it from earlier in the series, or a parallel series. It’s suddenly all about them. It’s going to happen a few times through t the Initiation series, so I’m going to have to be careful with each of them.
