Ok I‘ll try and answer some of your questions ☺️ -) Derek is a complicated character. I think the great thing about Shonda’s writing is that no character is perfect. Derek certainly sees himself as the romantic hero and in certain aspects he is a hero, but he is also being a real dick with his indecisiveness and him sticking with Addison for one reason only - she is his wife and he made a commitment to her. He clearly doesn’t love her but he does love Meredith. He is not handling that situation well at all and I think even huge Derek fans would agree with that. I like Derek, he’s not my fave but I think he has good intentions mostly but how he’s behaving this season is not the best to put it mildly. -) as for Burke: where we are right now in the show I don’t think people dislike him. I personally think him and Christina are just too different but that’s just me 🤷‍♀️ -) as far as faves go: my top 3 atm in the show are bailey, izzie and christina. I think many people have a similar top 3 atp. -) as for addison: I think she may be a little passive aggressive but rightfully so. Derek literally just told her he loves another woman, she has to live in a trailer she hates and she just left her job and friends in new york. I would never, but we can’t say Addison isn’t trying enough. -) Do we think Derek should cheat to equal what Addison dis? no absolutely not. their marriage is hanging by a thread bc they both don’t really love each other anymore. But they both are trying to male it work regardless.

i don't think anyone thinks derek is in the right or doing good right now. but many of us don't see him as this villain either. there's nuance to him. i personally don't mind him. i don't like burke and christiania together, i think they're too different and that he doesn't understand her and maybe underestimates trying to understand her. she deserves someone who understands her better and is patient with her. burke just is too different. my favorites thus far are definitely meredith, christiania, and alex. izzy and george annoy me lol but i adore meredith so much and am always rooting for her. same with christiania. i always root for those two in the show. i never really connected with george and izzy like i do with them. and alex, i'm always rooting for him because i know he is a good person and can be a good person when he allows himself to be. i root for him to push himself to being better.

totally agreed on the derek front :) he does some dumb shit right now, but he’s neither hero or villain, just a guy trying to do the right thing and failing at it.

I think at this point in the show a lot of people are overly hard on Derek. Just like how Steven doesn’t see how Addison was being “passive aggressive”, I don’t see how he’s “treating her like shit” either. Outside of taking to Meredith, what bad thing has Derek done to Addison? He’s just living in the trailer (that he was living in before she even got there, so he’s clearly not doing it to piss her off) and he’s agreed to try again in a relationship with her after an insane betrayal on her part. He doesn’t berate her, he’s not malicious towards her, he’s been pretty open and honest with her about his feelings, even his conflicting ones with Meredith. I think, to expect him to be Prince Charming toward the woman that screwed his best friend would be super unrealistic. Generally, when people choose to stay with partners after infidelity, there’s a rough period of emotional distance and communication issues. That’s what happens when trying to repair a relationship after a trust is broken. I also think people act like Derek is forcing this life on Addison. As an adult, she’s responsible for her own choices. He didn’t ask her to move to Seattle, she chose to do that to “win him back”. He didn’t ask her to move into the trailer, she chose to do that. He didn’t ask her to work at the same hospital Meredith works, she chose that too. They’re both flawed human beings. And the show depicts just that. We’re not meant to be on Addison’s side or Derek’s side. Neither is the villain or the hero at this point. They’re just two people who have made/continue to make mistakes, moving forward with some kind of relationship that we as the audience can see isn’t really working so far.
