This is still one of my favorite episodes to this day. Which is probably why your reaction was a bit on the frustrating side lol. Why would Phoebe think of Cole when she was in the 1600s? She doesn't even know he's remotely supernatural. She's also SUPER mentally focused on her mission, as well as trying to stay hidden behind her mask. So while she's THAT mentally distracted, you couldn't fathom that the Assistant District Attorney in the future that she has a crush on is the last thing on her mind in that moment? LMAO at you brilliantly calling it early that the blessed baby being born was an ancestor of the sisters, but then drawing a complete blank at the end when Melinda's name was dropped. I thought it would at least kick in when the first AND last name were said, but no dice lmaooo. Melinda Warren was the "original witch" of the Halliwell line (aka the Warren witches). Not only have they repeatedly mentioned her in convo plenty of times over the course of the show already, but they brought her back from the dead in an episode in season 1 where she had to curse a power-stealing warlock back into her locket that Prue was tricked into releasing him from. I believe it was one of the few episodes of season 1 that you actually liked. That blonde witch who they brought back from the dead in that episode is the baby you just watched them help bring into the world. The whole time you were too lost in your anger over Phoebe not recognizing Cole when they both had their masks on, you completely missed Cole's immediate reaction to Phoebe's response to the apple peel revealing that her true love's name starts with C. Her first thought was "Cole", and this triggered an unexpected reaction in Cole. Which is what led to the rest of his lost reaction when the sisters were unmasked and revealed. You're not making the connection here that Cole's evil...but he's got moments where he's got chinks in his evil armor. You missed a big chink in this episode alone. You missed all of that because you were focused too hard on the way wrong thing. Like Leo's and Darryl's costumes in the beginning lol. You tend to do that a lot. And like Phoebe riding the broom at the end was both ironic (because of her objecting to the pop culture stereotypes of witches in the beginning of the episode) and fitting (Phoebe's power of levitation makes it make sense that she's the one riding the broom there once they connected to the power of All Hallows Eve). The show doesn't need to give you a misdirect - you do a great job of misdirecting yourself, and totally missing key points. Points that probably would have helped this episode not be as corny to you as it was.

Phoebe wasn't mentally focused on her mission when she encountered Cole in 1600s, she was trying to see the initial of her true loves name😂 so I think that would make Cole pop in her mind as he’s currently her crush. Anyway, even if Cole was the last thing on her mind, it's not about thinking of him, it's about recognising someone from the way they look and sound. It's not like he briefly walked by her, but he was close and speaking directly to her, eyes, voice, height, build, part of his face...all lf that was clearly visible, there's just no way someone wouldn't recognise a person they know in that moment. Especially someone you think of frequently if you're interested in them.

cil

i wasn't a huge fan of this episode either lol.

When Cole looked dazed after Phoebe said Cole when the guy said the name of her true love begins with a C, it wasn't that he didn't recognize her till then, it was that he realized, oh she likes me enough to think that and I'm having weird feelings about this.

You keep saying things like "Piper is breaking the rules" and "they were supposed to and should have punished you," as if the elders are an infallible entity.
