this show somehow being an infinitely worse adaptation of the books than the movie was is still wild to me

The beginning of this show turned away a lot of people before it got good. That was on top of the fact that this show completely foregoes following the books as it goes on. I really liked the show and the characters later on, but I had to get past the bad acting and the blatant disregard for the book canonicity.

this show is SO GOOD after season 1. Like, even season 1 is okay if you look past the bad acting of the main and weird cgi.
