I will say when I watched this episode I viewed the scene of Lois leaving the house from Clark differently from you. I felt that she wanted to respect her father "The General" in private which is why she waited until she was away from Clark to finally step up to him. I know from experiences of people who is afraid to be honest with that one person especially if it's that father or mother. You live to make them happy instead of yourself regardless of how they were as a parent. So, Lois never intended to leave Clark which is why the second she arrived back at the Talon she FINALLY put Sam in his place and from what was told from us in this episode, this is the first time Lois had EVER done that to her father so that was huge for her and it showed how much she loved Clark. I am still watching the episode but I just paused at the scene where you are upset with Lois for finally standing up to the General because you are upset that Lois left the home. I admit this episode for me was difficult to watch as a Lois fan which is why that moment in the Talon was so big because she finally stood up for herself.

Good season but undoubtedly sprinkles of below mid episodes is to be expected

yeah Lois leaving with her dad was a terrible character choice, especially since she "stands up for Clark" in the scene immediately after that. crazy bad writing.
