One of the central relationships in 9-1-1 is Bobby and Buck's father-son relationship. It's not a secret within the show, either. Last episode, at the duck farm, Bobby lost his temper at the farm owner and yelled "he's just an idiot kid!" which is a VERY unsubtle hint at how he's feeling about Buck. Yes, Buck took it too far by suing the city and the department, even if it was because he felt like there was literally nothing else he could do to get back to his real job, but I don't think you're giving any blame at all to BOBBY. Multiple characters (esp Hen this episode, and Bobby himself in 3x04) have stated that the LAFD thought Buck was ready but Bobby himself thought that Buck wasn't. And this was directly because of Buck getting a clot and coughing up blood right in front of Bobby. Bobby got scared. This was another "child" he was gonna lose. And the lawyer was ABSOLUTELY right that Chimney was allowed back within weeks TWICE after life threatening injuries but Buck still wasn't after months. Chim had a severe head injury (which would have impacted his brain in some ways surely) and he was stabbed numerous times by a psychopath (which would have been tough on his body on such a physically demanding job, not to mention the state of his mental health after such a brutal attack). Buck WAS treated differently...and that's because of how Bobby feels about him. It's why Hen and Chimney aren't pissed off at Buck. They knew that both sides were wrong. Eddie's a different story. He's going through a lot of personal crap and he couldn't even talk to his bestie. Chris couldn't talk to Buck either. He was pissed for personal reasons. It was nice to see Bobby accept Hen's advice this episode and realise that yeah, Buck's an idiot kid but it's not a game to him. He didn't lash out to hurt people. He wants to do his job and be a part of the fire-fam. Buck did it the wrong way but Bobby went about trying to protect Buck the wrong way, too. And I'm glad that he realised that at the end of the episode. I think seeing Buck being responsible about being on blood thinners and able to do the job even when he was hurt cleared Bobby's mind from his trauma-panic about losing Buck/needing to protect Buck. And I'm most ESPECIALLY glad that they're going to have some father-son bonding over a meal apparently LOL.

Also I'm pretty sure the story about the kids being chained up and people discovering the truth when one of the daughters escaped was a real story. I remember reading about it ages ago. Humans are the worst kinds of monsters.
