I remember people would say "well people die randomly in real life every day" to justify what happened with JT. But just because it happens in real life doesn't mean it would be satisfying in story format as we saw here. I didn't realize how poorly done the aftermath of JT's death was until I was older. The Rick storyline and the aftermath of that was done way better. Honestly, it feels like it was done more for shock value than storytelling.

his death was definitely rushed, but i will say...his death sets up some future storylines and puts things in motion that impact the next couple of seasons in a major way. which makes it feel less rushed. also, it always bothered me how we never got to see paige's reaction to JT's death on the show given that they were so close in the earlier seasons and he helped her through her own trauma in season 2. but we do get to see her reaction (and the reaction of other characters) on one of the degrassi mini-episodes (episode title is "6 months"). in the mini, multiple characters come back to pay tribute on the 6 month anniversary of his death. not sure if you plan on watching or reacting to the mini episodes at a later time. but many of them tie into storylines from the main show. maybe consider giving them a watch. they're all on youtube. the minis are like 3-5 min episodes, but they run alongside the show from season 5 right up until the end of the series.

exactly. To judge the immediate episodes feels weird cause there are consequences to his death that are MAJOR, just not immediate. It's easy to think it was insignificant when you're only on the 2nd episode. Which is like in life. Also JT's friendship circle is small and he's not friends with the whole cast, only the core four and his girlfriend and liberty. And Spinner a little? i guess. Barely. We see spinner's reaction here a bit. But idk, JT was my favorite character and i think the death wasn't terribly done. I've seen far worse where they dont even get much follow up and it adds nothing to the plot. This one does.
