i actually don’t dislike richard most of the time, and i felt bad for him at the end of the episode, but i’m so tired of both him and emily manipulating lorelai into feeling bad about her extremely valid feelings. last episode, emily gave lorelai the silent treatment until she apologized to her for not trusting her motives with helping her with the loan, and then she turned around and added a condition, exactly what lorelai was afraid of. this episode, richard came into lorelai’s place of business and was condescending and talked down to her in front of her employees, then overruled her decision for her own child, and when lorelai was understandably upset about that, it turns into “poor me, i’m sad and retired”. this is exactly why lorelai left her parents house as soon as she could. they treat her horribly and then gaslight her in order to keep controlling her.
