ok get ready for some lore: sweet victory at the super bowl created quite a bit of drama back in the day when the creator of spongebob, stephen hillenburg, passed away of ALS in 2018, there was a petition for sweet victory to be performed at the super bowl in 2019 as a memorial given how important he was to tv. i cant remember who specifically but i think people wanted maroon 5 to perform it. the petition actually got 1.2 million signatures, so a lot of people (including me) tuned in to see if they would do it. they had a really short spongebob cameo at the beginning of the half time show, introducing travis scott who played sicko mode instead. a lot of people were really upset. few years later they kind of did it, but on nickelodeon. kinda a bummer bc i feel like people would remember sweet victory being performed much more than they’d remember travis scotts performance
