About Patreon Update Regarding Pledges (Patreon)

Hey everyone!!! 

So at this point I'm sure most have received a mail from Patreon explaining this... but in resume... from now on Patreon will add "a fee" to your pledges as a way to increase the revenue paid out to creators...

In the past, I had to pay this whole fee, that was ok … I was always aware of this... the system kind of worked, but i guess Patreon have their own reasons to do this... Thou I don’t support this… Since Patreon is asking you to give more than you’ve already generously given… plus... it just makes everything more complicated...

Anyway, they will implement this change starting this month, and there isn't much I can do about it. Now, we are talking about a fee of 2.9% + $0,35 that will be added to your pledge from now on... That´s like half a dolar to someone who pledge 5 dolars per month.  (I think? My math might be way off , let me know!)

And, so you know, I will keep paying a fixed %5 fee as well, which is lower to what I used to pay 

I can't really risk lowering the pledges since that might end affecting me and my Patreon Campaign. So I hope that as many of you as possible can continue supporting my work here and I completely understand if you can’t afford to continue to give at your current level. 

I really don't know how much this could impact this Patreon...
I just hope not negatively, or not too much... but that's something I'll need to check during the next months... changes might be necessary

If pledges stay the same I will take home a marginal increase for sure.
If that’s what end happening I’ll just have to do something nice for you all :p

I for one appreciate your honesty and applaud your moral fortitude. Thank you for the heads up, but no matter the math I absolutely love ur art and writing it's so very beautiful. You have actually inspired me to pick up the pen and pencil again recently. Thank you so very much for all you've done and hopefully continue to do.

I'm still going to pay the same, and don't worry, everyone knows you can't do anything about it, so it's not your "fault". I hope you don't lose any (or at least not many) patrons!

The less stress on you, the better. An extra 40 cents per month isn't exactly a problem for us. For you, it's your entire livelihood. You're too nice for your own damn good, don't worry about it! ;3

this is just me, but in my opinion your art is wortht he extra few pennies. Shame patreon is messing around, but I’m not going anywhere, you’re worth it. Just keep being you.

While I echo the sentiment about your art unfortunately I support a number of Creators on Patreon and so the fees and percentages add up fast.

Many supporters have expressed in various blog or social media posts interest in continuing support of their creators through alternative means. Is that something you would be willing to entertain? There's no shaking the core supporters but some of those who are greatly affected by the compounding micro-transaction charges might be interested in ways to mitigate them.

I would be willing to entertain that idea... but it's complicated, since Patreon really works wen you have everything in one place... not spreading the content around... I heard there is a new place similar to Patreon but havent really looked into it. Patreon told me about this like 2 days ago so i havent got any time to think much about it really.

Yes... if I'm paying almost $5.50 instead of $5.00, and you are getting a little more from Patreon, if you give us a little more art per month (such as more Raan's Doll), we should be happy. Though an increase from $1.00 to $1.38 a month seems a bit steep...

Yeah the $1 pledges are the more affected... this change really sucks ... especially for those who support many patreons this way

To be honest, sense I only support you and one other. It's not really a big issue for me. But I can understand how others who support lots of patrons would be upset about this.

I am the same, you are the only patreon I support so a little extra change isn't too bad. I can see it adding up for people who spread it out though.

I care to much about both you and your content to up and leave for pennies on the dollar, so this doesn’t change anything for me. It evens out because Netflix just droped a dollar of my fee, so you can have it~ •Love•

Stay where you are now and keep on that great work of yours. I will keep my pledge steady, knowing it's worth it and so I don't really care about this additional percentage. I know that there are some who can't pay the extra fee and I am feeling with those, for missing your next work(give them a quiet minute). After all, the content is not running away and as long as the core is still paying the needed pledges, there always will be art to admire. Thank you Community and Kannel !!!

I'm still happy to contribute. You're one of the reasons I chose Patreon and Deviant Art and are a constant source of inspiration. I agree, as a content creator, this is a dumb move on Patreon's part.
