SAO Light Novel break down Books 1-4 = Season 1 Books 5-8 = Season 2 Books 9-14 = Season 3 Books 15-18 = Season 4 Books 19-24 have been written, only 19-20 have been released in english. These are what the next season of SAO will be about, but when that will happen, we dont know. The new episodes that Netflix is talking about i THINK are season 3. Because i am pretty sure when you were watching Season 2, netflix didnt have season 3. But they have it now. Whether they will have season 4 or not when you get there, i dont know. (They have season 4 on Funimation and VRV through) Season 4 is done. We don’t know when Season 5 is coming. Accel World is set 20 years after Season 4. Ie 2046. And apparently there has been more word from Reki about whether they are actually linked, but he was also vague about it. But it is entirely possible that they are linked. But some of the manners in which they may be linked may actually be spoilers, so i will drop that subject here. Yes, that was actually Kirito, thats why he woke up crying. But the memory of that time was goine. And they removed the memory of him from the other people as well. HOW they do that i have no earthly idea. But yeah. Thats why Eugeo didnt remember him, and Kirito didnt remember Eugeo. Although the subject of whether or not he was a COPY or the REAL one...is kinda… *shrug*... that might be how they were able to delete the memories, no idea. The black sword was made from the tree, so yes, it did inherit the strength of the tree. On the subject of family names, i think in the Underworld, only the Landed class have family names. Like Alice was the daughter of the city elder, ie the town lord. (Side note, Rulid appears much to large to be a VILLAGE in my mind) So she was Alice Zuckberg, but Eugeo is Eugeo son of Orick. And since Kirito has no family at all, and no memory, they probably just call him Kirito, or maybe Kirito of Rulid, since thats the closest thing he has to a home in this world. And yeah i still need to do my...lunatic grade doctoral thesis on SAO...but i think i shall wait til you are done. But yeah i have a lot of thoughts.

I was planning on saying something before Nelly did but needed time to figure out all of what I wanted to say. Season 4 is not really season 4 as it's season 3 part 2. Which i stated before is called Sword Art Online Alicization war of the underworld. Also war of the underworld was split into 2 parts as the last 10 episodes were related later and delayed because of the Pandemic. War of the Underworld part 1 has already been released in English. Part 2 has not but it has been released in Japanese. The English release of the last 10 episodes are going to start to air this weekend, November 7th, (logically finishing 10 weeks later). So you have time to catch up. there is nothing after that for now. So those 2 guys you hate, well you're suppose to hate them and you are not prepared for what comes next. I'm giving you a warning of this next episode because it's going to really piss you off and maybe hard to watch. As much as I don't like saying too much of anything to create expectations in many ways but in this case you should have a warning because the next episode for some is really hard to watch. Netlfix is also unedited so things that were cut out for the american tv release is not cut out. I don't know how you're going to react but you're going to have a lot of emotions. Everything that happens is very crucial to the story. But you're at the point in the Rabbit hole where it's about to start getting majorly exciting forward and extremely epic. From here on out you will most likely be at the edge of your seat all the way until you finish part 2 of the war of the underworld. It's going to feel slow and fast at the same time where you just want more and what you get won't be enough yet everything you want and more is going to happen. It is all satisfying yet it's going to feel like there should be more. You're going to get to learn even more lore and honestly I would be completely surprised if it doesn't make you giddy and hyped. Also there is a game on ps4 (maybe Xbox one I don't know for sure as well as i think it's on PC) of Kirito in this world with similar and different story with a entire journey. It's called Alicization Lycoris. though it is a continuation of the games. starting from Sword art Online Hollow Fragment, Lost Song, Hollow Realization and Fatal Bullet, and finally Alicization: Lycoris... though the game verse starts after the first arc of the anime but it's also like a different ending as what if things ended this way and then go on into it's own story and continuation with many similar events but also a huge list of game only characters from every game exploring each world. (I own them all) Also the one game I don't own yet is Accel World vs SAO (it hasn't been on sale or dropped in price yet) they all have DLC and a lot of story Content. Though it only has the Japanese voice actors and it's made by Bandai so a lot of elements are told story and not shown (that costs money) so as great as the games are there is a lot of potential really left on the Cutting room floor that could really make these some of the best games though they are all pretty fun with a few of the titles being a lot better than the others. Sword art is one of my top 3 favorite IP's of all time. I'm really truly excited for you because OMG for the experience you're about to journey. Also Kirito is called Kirito the Swordsman not Kirito from Ruild. Eugeo goes by that as well But that is Kirto's identity going forward as before it was Duel wielder Kirito, but you'll hear Kirito identify himself going forward as Kirito the Swordsman until much later he will have a new name that I won't give away that I believe will play a huge part of the story that goes past the entire story that has been revealed so far (obviously speculation on my part as it hasn't been written or revealed yet). And one last reminder that season 4 is not season 4 but season 3 part 2. and season 3 part 2 is split into 2 as well but like i said before the entire Alicization arc is 47 episodes. Alicization and Alicization war of the underworld is all considered season 3. So you really shouldn't call season 4 season 4 but season 3 part 2 or war of the underworld. For the record you are the one and only Patreon I have ever joined and I only did after I didn't want to wait after watching the reactions you had on Youtube. (obviously for sword art) Your community and the Discord channel intrigued me as well even though I have yet to participate much. I don't really have people I can talk to or share my love for this stuff really. I was hoping maybe that might happen here but i guess we will see. Also if you need a free place to watch anything that isn't on Netflix I do know a place where you can watch almost any Anime or cartoon in both Dub and Sub if you don't want to wait for it to be on Netflix or anything else you pay for.

Sorry I don't do paragraphs so it's not all one big cluster of words but I don't know how to divide it as what normally would when typing would actually post it not create a paragraph.

Also don't know if you know this but on Netflix the subtitles you read on the English Dub are the same Subtitles you would read if you were watching the Japanese version. I love both versions as both set of Voice actors are amazing. Just a FYI

The reason we call it season 4 is because of how long season 3 was. A cour is 12-13 (usually 12) episodes, a season is 23-26 (usually 24). The arc may continue into season 4, but its still season 4. I only mention this because i think its confusing to try and call them both season 3. Feel free to call it what you like though.

The dub in this series is some of the best there is. I watch it in both cause the Japanese voice actors are very good as well

"Season 4" in Aries's comment would refer to the second part of the Alicization arc called Alicization: War of Underworld (WoU), sometimes also called "Season 3 part 2". WoU was released in two parts, with the second part having only just finished in Japan in September. The English dub should release soon-ish, Toonami US just started running it actually. Netflix US is currently only offering Season 3 I believe, I guess it might take them a while to get WoU. Anyway, about Ep 8: I think Underworld currently runs at 5000x speed, but we'll see it change in the story. What I noticed is that Alicization plays with the anime hero story on a meta layer. The story in Underworld has all the properties of its own hero story with an academy, side characters like mentors, rivals and bullies, and character development. The trope in many such stories (like e.g. Naruto) is the development of skills and strength driven by willpower and determination ("mental image" in the English dub?). Underworld is ultimately a VMMORPG with sword skills and magic/strength skill points, system calls and item status windows, but its players (except Kirito) are artificial* and it connects directly to the soul instead of the sensory nerves. In the last few episodes we have discovered along with Kirito that you can literally boost your stats by believing in it. So just the in-game story of Underworld alone is its own story like Season 1 was. But while before it was just Kirito's and Asuna's specialty to break the game with determination, in Underworld it is a core mechanic of the game world that other characters like Volo and Serlut live by, it is like a physical law of their reality. This wraps around to a motif of all of SAO: the strength of determination. And it reflects another idea that was already discussed in earlier seasons: questioning what is real and what is virtual, and what the difference is. We had people from the "real" world forced to live their life in a "virtual" one (SAO). With Yui, we already have a "virtual" being, herself knowing she is originally a program, that is loved like a child by "real" people. With Death Gun, we discussed people that went insane from the intermixing of player killing and murder. And now we have an entire civilization of souls for which Underworld is the "real" world. Ep 9: I believe Ronye is pronounced "Ron-yeh" and is probably supposed to resemble the name Ronja (famous from Astrid Lindgren's book) of roughly Scandinavian origin. Kirito's lecture about personal responsibility above the law relates to Eugio's deep regret of not being able to help Alice, and it is the reason why Kirito was brought into Underworld in the first place: because all inhabitants are obeying the law too strictly, hindering the researchers' ambitions (see Ep 6).

FOOTNOTE: *Are the other people in Underworld actually artificial, and what does it mean? As I understood in an earlier episode, all inhabitants are born with souls copied from newborn humans, stored in Lightcubes instead of brains. They live entire lives in their world (Underworld) just like we do in ours, which should mean it makes them mentally full humans like us. Consequently, if they are equal, they deserve equal treatment and rights. Or are they still just copies of our babies? What makes a human a human? Is it birth, or is it life? Could a fully artificial newborn soul eventually be constructed? Once again, we're faced with the question of what is truly "real". Could "real" humans ourselves and the entire world we live in have been created by another being? Do we live in the Matrix? Now, SAO itself hasn't gone this deep yet, but it has an opening for these existential thoughts and I love that. Please don't mess with me, Patreon!
