Hi everyone,

Just want to let you know before hand that I plan to restructure the tiers a little.

At the moment you can get all of my stuff on the $3 tier. I'm sure that a lot of people are just signing up, downloading the entire catalogue and then quitting. Obviously this makes no sense since I'm selling my games individually for a much higher price on Steam.

Therefore I've decided to make my old games (EC 1 & 2, SLOG etc) available from the $10 tier and upwards.

For $3 and $5 tiers I will still allow downloads of the latest version of my current project (RoB at the moment).

Of course I want to reward those who have stuck with me on the $3, $5 etc tiers over the months and years, but at the same time don't want to allow people to take advantage of the low prices.

Just to reinstate. All I would be doing it this:
- Move the old games to $10 tier
- The current game (ROB) will remain on current tiers ($3 +)

Does this make sense?? Let me know what you think.

Thanks all :)

That's good point

SysGabriel

You can limit the plan slots no? And create another one for the right price... So the ones that already have the $3 plan would not be affected. And new ones would need the new plan.

Logan Smith

Fair enough, can you not just lock your previous games on patreon but keep the current game avalible to the lower tiers? Just my two cents probably going to go up anyway, enjoyed your content enough to justify that :)

Collar Spider

That's fine. I tend to play through the games once as they're coming out and then not come back. So not having immediate access to the older games is just fine for me. I want to continue supporting your work and I like the current level I'm doing it at.

Youeno

Whatever decision you make I'll continue to support your work

theP0M

honestly it makes sense that the complete games should be behind a 1 and done price whereas the in progress ones would be like an early access lower price since with each update people come back to check.

GoldenSock

Kinda lame considering I been paying $3 a month since October, but I guess understand. Wish there was a way to keep access to people who been supporting long term.

Faustus7

I get the logic behind it, I think its fine

ICommissionDSPriscillaArt

When is this change going to take place? Is there a plan to grandfather or recognize patrons who joined previously by maintaining the awards currently for them?

pinktea

I'll look into that, but don't want to make things too complicated

pinktea

Yes, I plan to keep the current game - ROB right now - available for $3 and upwards. I'd put the previous games on a higher tier

pinktea

You can always PM me, and if you've supported for a long time I'll send you whatever links you request.

pinktea

Probably some time this or next week. If that option was available for long-term supporters I'd opt for it but I don't think that functionality exists on the site. As I said you can always DM me and as long as you are a long-term supporter I can send you whatever links you want.

EagleClaw

To me this makes sense and have no problem with it. Will continue to support your work as always

Dis

That makes sense, on a similar note. Does anyone know how to check how long you been a member? I think I was here since EC2 but can't remember how long that was.

Justin Inbegriff

yea i think they did that on project melody's one, they lock a tier and rename it then add a new 3 dollar tier that is open. so long as you dont unsub then you keep all the old stuff

pinktea

From my side it says you've been a member since Jan 2017. You're a veteran of the Dark Lord's army. Many thanks !!

ICommissionDSPriscillaArt

What would constitute a long-term supporter? I have only been subbed i think for 2 months now maybe? So I would assume that I wouldnt be included. It puts me in an odd spot where i would be incentivized to just pay the $10 once and then unsub, or to unsub outright for not getting the bonuses I want, which i feel is lecherous, which is why i didnt cancel the same day i initialy subbed. I know it puts you in an odd position, and i appreciate your time in responding!

pinktea

Looks like I can do that. I'll give it a shot and hopefully all the current $3 and $5 patrons won't see a change

MermaidQueen72

I agree with what the main sentiment seems to be. It isn’t fair to you as a creator for people to use that loophole. Definitely protect your work! I’ll keep supporting no matter what. I’ve loved all of your games and can’t wait to see what else you do!

pinktea

I think I would consider anything over 3 months as 'long-term', but I can be flexible on that. If you DM me I'll probably just send you whatever links even if you're still under 3 months. Also it looks like I'll be able to 'unpublish' the current $3 tier, which apparently will hide it from new members but keep everyone who's currently subbed on the original plan with the original benefits. So this whole thing may not affect you after all.

Cholziz Garuda

Hey so I kinda have been a sub for many many many years (since the first slave lord) but I recently switched to this new account. Is there any way for me to "prove" that I should qualify for whatever your long-term sub thing is?

pinktea

Thanks for the support. Nah, dont worry about it. You've been a member since Jan 2024 on this account so I'll consider that long-term by itself. In any case it looks like I lock the existing $3 and $5 tiers and keep the rewards the same for current members.

Ilsyra

That’s a good idea i am a current supporter for years (6 if i look at my profile) and maybe i will think about upgrade my subscription in the future. You desserve it ♡

SliceOfPieAlex

I'm still new to this community after playing RoB for the first time recently, but that's completely understandable. It's a shitty thing for someone to sub for only a month mainly to download all the games and cancel their sub right after. I'll happily support you in any tier and any way no matter what!

EagleClaw

From Seeing another comment, curious question, how long have I been a member?

Greyfallow

I've been there so many time but the only thing that worries me is from now we won't have access to games that we had before, i know your work is amazing and you have to make it value but doubling my cuote to have access to the same things i had before is kinda weird...

anony

I don’t mind. I already downloaded the older games.

Narayan88

Understandable. I got redirected from itch.io as it stated "For higher quality download visit Patreon". As I am a data hoarder I downloaded everything for my archives but decided not to cancel my sub because I appreciate the quality of work. P.S. I've already paid full price for RoB on Steam, which got me looking for the rest of your games.

Ilsyra

When you check your tier on mobile it says since you're member

DDK

Were your games not originally free anyway and patreon was essentially just for early releases?

daniel mariano

I was accidentally kicked out of your patreon this month because it refused my paypal for some reason. Hope this wasn't the reason you did this XD Regardless, I think it's a smart choice

Cris

Do what you have to do. For the quality of work you put out it’s only fair. I’ve followed you for years and will admit paying more for what I’ve always had access to is a little bit of a let down but regardless of your decision I’ll follow you and pay more if I have to. Your work speaks for itself you deserve it.

pinktea

You can always download them now. Plus I think I can keep all current members on the original tier, so nothing should change for you after all

pinktea

Originally i made them free, but the landscape since then has changed - plus I transitioned from a hobbiest to doing this as my full time and long-term job

Oazar Hiwotchize

Since you ask, Patreon was supposed to give some stability by getting regular incomes to the creators. The next thing should have been to grant bonuses by the amount paid, and regular updates by tier. It was never done, so it incitated to the pay once, get everything, behavior. But that is not a problem for me, can still pay 1 every month, and pop to ten once every two years :) I'm not gonna stop supporting.

pinktea

thanks man, very much appreciate the support - if I can I'm going to try to keep the tiers the same as they are now for current subscribers in any case.

EagleClaw

I just want to say, damn time flys. Thanks for working hard on your games this long and staying on the grind.

Soviet

I think it's smart choice I also followed for long time because 3 euro is really cheap and I'm willing to pay more if I have to because your work deserve it

pinktea

Thanks - Anyway it turns out that you can remain on your current tier with current benefits. Only if you unsubscribe and subscribe again in the future you will have to join the updated tier.
