Another good episode for sure. Just .... poor Dexter is all I can say. I do like the contrasts between them though. Like they're on an equal footing with each other in the first episode, then Emma is down in the dumps and not doing well professionally in 2 and 3 whereas Dex is doing well for himself or at least enjoying life, then 4 it's equal again, then 5 and 6 poor Dex is really struggling personally, but Emma is thriving in her job and personal life, genuinely seeming happy. The only time she is sad is that final bit of this episode out of the last 2 eps, because she empathizing with Dex's struggles. And he was a big reason why she is doing well, because he pushed the teaching and knew she'd be great. They really do support each other right now. I always wondered if Emma did turn up whether Dex would have tanked anyway ....? I genuinely don't think he would have.

I don’t believe he would have tanked but I feel he, in this episode, really wasn’t as supportive of Emma as she was to him. He’s completely self absorbed, and at this point, he’s not emotionally available for her but needs her to be there for him.
