Greetings, Today we're discussing two bronies who have received media attention for their bullying-induced suicides. I pose my thoughts on the responsibility that everyone shares in these situations. With everyone being the bullies, the victims and the bystanders (teachers, friends, family, other onlookers) alike. Be sure to let me know what you think. Source Articles: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/na... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/artic... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/04... I find it quite interesting that the case of Adam Smith involves bronies treating each other in the way that seems to directly contradict messages that the show preaches. How does someone like that even remain a fan, especially a fan that enjoys the show for it's messages and role-model characters? Are they hypocritical or simply unaware of their actions? Cuddlepug on DeviantArt has released many articles on abusive behaviors within the Brony community. Some of which need to be taken with a grain of salt but considered for self-evaluation nonetheless. One of which involved the male-against-female sexism in some circles of the fandom (which seems an oxymoronic concept given how most of the show’s cast, crew and characters are women). While participating in a livestream discussing the implications of clop culture, the female host was insulted and threatened repeatedly. Regardless of the motivation, this type of behavior is disgusting. Any power or pleasure it brings someone who acts like this will come back to haunt them in ways that those who act like this will not likely realize until it's too late. I wanted to talk about Michael Morones when it first happened but simply wasn't able to get to it. This is a subject rather close to me as I've been on all sides of these situations. Since Adam Smith took his life a few weeks ago, I believed it's appropriate to broach the subject again.
