Good morning! While I was planning out the next map, I figured I should announce that I'm considering some minor changes to my tiers and their bonuses. This was initially spurred by a realization that Dutchman tokens will inevitably run out of interesting things to make tokens of, and then I came up with and threw in some other tweaks.

  • The Dutchman tier's extra token bonus could be changed to include new item icons as well, and in addition, because my new art style is nowhere near as compatible with drag-and-dropping tokens as I'd like it to be (despite its comparable beauty), the Dutchman tier will also be given total access to the original map files. This will mean that the Patrician tier will be canned. I may or may not also in the future rename Dutchman to Patrician, short of an outcry from someone.

I'd like to ask if the prospect of item tokens would actually be useful, of course. I use VTT software that has support for items, and you could use them to visually indicate the location of things on the ground, but that's pretty marginal in comparison to extra furniture, so I'll continue cropping furniture tokens from the maps too.

  • The Enthusiast tier will be given an apology, because I haven't thought of anything creative for them yet, sorry! More map variants might be doable, ideas are welcome as always. You might notice that my last map had two different variants - the storming nighttime pillar had a monolith in the center. I want to do something more like that in the future, I think it'll add more utility to the maps. I might also make large-scale reference maps like the Lizard's Chasm for more traditional dungeon-delving adventures on a grand scale, as a bonus for the more detailed battlemaps.

  • The Supporter tier will be changed to reflect that I'll be regularly making bonus maps, because I'll be making random extra bonus maps every month from now on. This is more or less dependent on my availability - if something dramatic comes up in the future, I might end up not doing one in a month. I also might make maps for campaigns I get involved in, which will be published for free here. Notably, these supporter-only bonus maps will not be released to the public, even as watermarked versions, so they'll be completely patron-exclusive! Also, supporter variants might contain map edits too, now. This is pretty much dependent on how many good ideas I've got for the map in question.

I can't imagine that the response to any of this could be negative, of course. I just need some feedback on what'd be most useful to you as a GM.

Finally, next map will probably be a temple-cave of some sort, a good place for a traditional dungeon crawler. That's what the second image is for! It's my inspiration.

I don‘t know how feasible or how much work it would be, but I had an idea for map alternatives: take your maps to different biomes, like your small island with the bridge from a lake/sea to a dried up canyon in a desert or the middle of a lava river. That way, one can use them in wildly different settings. Other than that, I really appreciate the propless variants, they‘re very handy. As always, thanks for your hard work!

That's interesting to know. My former work process didn't accomodate for stripping away props like that - it left splotches of color around furniture unfilled, since I tended to leave all "edge" lines visible. Biomes are fairly easily doable, though - I've technically already done it before, turning my oldest map into a boreal setting and adding snow to it. I'm hesitant to shift grass into snow sometimes because it doesn't always look right. And thank you for the feedback!
