This one was a doozy. Tough to watch at part but a very necessary movie for everyone to watch.

Koe no Katachi - The Shape of Voice is a more elegant title. We're aware the sub is very good but the dub suits us better in reactions most of the time as well as the way the reactions are displayed to you all.

I was waiting for this reaction! So glad you guys watched this. A Silent Voice has easily become one of my favorite films - and as you said, it should be necessary for everyone to watch this. Personally, I like the dub more. Especially since they hired a deaf VA for the role of Shoko Nishimiya.

Fun fact: the "real" title of this manga is called "the shape of voice", written as "聲の形". 聲 represents "voice". If you look closely, this word is composed with 声(voice), 殳(hand),耳(ear). You may realize the word 聲 and 声means the same thing, but the reason the author uses 聲 instead is because she wants the audience to interpret this title "the shape of voice" as "the shape of communication". And communication is more than just voice or sound; it is full with struggle and pain like this film, but we should never stop trying to understand each others. I have always look at the show as a story more than just a bully story, but how to make connection from one to another and through making that connection, it takes a long way to get to the right way. ps. This film is adapted from a manga, and the source material has more content after the story where the film decide to end.

Im not mad that dub won tbh... Especially knowing that the main character: Shouko, is deaf and the VA who played her, is also deaf. Really an amazing way to portray a dub. I give props to the dub for that. 👏🏽

the VA for shoko's dub voice is actually also deaf, she did amazing no matter how many times i watch this movie i always cry ahhh truly one of my favourites

You are very non-transparent about this topic. You never want to do sub reactions again? Because its sounds like that. But then you say "most of the time" and I dont understand with what criteria you make the decision. Apparently Silent Voice was better for the reaction in dub? Why? And why wasnt Attack on Titan or Hunter x Hunter or Haikyuu or Dark or Money Heist? I hope you get what I mean. For me your arguments in this matter make no sense. You say this but then you do the opposite, like that indian movie. Why didnt you watch it in dub, i thought it "suits you better in reactions". And why make a difference in anime and life action? You always watch Foreign Life Action series and movies in sub, why is it treated differenty than animes that are 99% of the time foreign shows? Dont get me wrong, I just want a fair split. Like this movie in dub, the next one in sub, then again dub, then again sub. This is no hate or anything, just a watcher who feels messed around with. I hope you answer my critic and not ignore it. Would be really nice of you. And then we can understand each other better. ^^

BTW thank u Normies for watching "A Silent Voice" rather than putting it on the wheel. That was a really good move on yalls part 💯. Cant wait to here yalls full video discussion on how u felt about this masterpiece!!! This movie was easily in my top 3 anime movies of all time!!! And low-key top 10 to 15 of my favorite movies in general!

You've now seen 2 of my 3 favorite anime movies of all time. :D (The last one being Anthem of the Heart.) And while I love Your Name... A Silent Voice just hits a little deeper, because it touches on so many real life issues. I was lucky enough to get to see this in theater, and after the credits, there was this interview with Shoko's English VA, who really is deaf and who shared some of her own experiences with bullying... I don't know if you could find that interview anywhere. Just that I was disappointed to see it wasn't included in the blu-ray or DVD.

I much prefer the sub, especially with the whole "moon" scene but I get you guys aren't really gonna do sub anymore. I really do appreciate them getting a deaf actress for the dub but every other character still sounds pretty mediocre compared to the sub. Just my preferences and opinions though.
