BROOO did you all ever notice how Brutal early Dragon Ball Z was?  Where did this go in super?

DBZ Abridged 14 - Group Reaction

Chronicler

Yeah, things were more real back then, even Dragon Ball. One more reason I dislike Super

coffeemilk

Super is kind of dark in how we all ignore all the people Beerus and the other gods have killed. Or how they brought Freeza back to life just because he sort of did one non-selfish thing. or how Future Trunk's universe was destroyed because one Kai had a stick up his butt.

Dude, even with the DBZ anime, there was some stuff in the manga that was too graphic to adapt. For example, when Dr. Gero and Android 19 first show up and Gero grabs the one guy out of his car, he decapitates him by squeezing his neck. Not ripping, squeezing. Imagine how much force you have to use in order to literally squeeze a person's neck into two pieces.

Have Mickey do more Krillin quotes he's perfect for the role

Guys, one of the creators is openly gay and married to another man. I don't think there's any issue with him making a fag joke, lol. Personally, I don't see it as an issue anyway. Comedy is comedy.

I also think the joke is mostly harmless, but I'd be careful with that line of thought. Its like saying something a group couldn't have said something racist because one of the members is black.

Also, ask yourself this; did seeing violence in Dragon Ball Z at a young age make you any worse of a person? If anything, I think it's good for kids. Kids have a natural curiosity to see things like that. Shows like DBZ and Naruto would lure kids in with violence, then start teaching them morals, and the importance of friendship, and to stand up for what's right. Kids these days are missing out on that.

Like others I believe that DBS drew a lot from DBZA in terms of being a more light hearted and comedic take on the series. Outside of that you have the issue of the writing changes. As Toriyama wrote the series he eventually made death irrelevant taking away the serious and danger of a lot of fights. You also have for the first time Goku being responsible for a lot of the danger. This meant that Funimation couldn’t do their normal rewriting to make Goku more heroic because it no longer fit the story. Add all this together and you lose any sense of realness because you know that no matter what happens everything will be fine in the end

Tbf Super did get dark at times. Trunks' whole future world, universe even, got wiped out. Forever. They're all dead. Obviously Super isn't as graphic or gory or as upfront about it as Z was and it has an overall much lighter tone, but Super still had it's moments. Heck in the current manga arc of Super, a guy gets killed the same way Dodoria killed the Namekian here. Hopefully when the Super anime comes back they adapt that current DBS manga arc and do it justice in it's tone and brutality, because it's by far the closest Super has ever felt to Z again, and it's great.

the joke with the old doctor is that he's a raging sexist, the show isnt being sexist

The Wheff

Yeah, they didnt put sexism in and try to pass it off as a joke. The joke is that they put sexism in. The show is a parody, not a comedy. Some of the characters are more extreme versions of themselves, and then some are a parody of what a parody of them would be like. I watched the show once and thought it was funny. Then i watched it again and thought it was hilarious. Then i watched some reactions and some people picked up jokes that i missed. You need to have unlocked 100% of your brain to get some of the humour

Hazy Skies

Hell yeah, I'd have a pancake button too, that'd be great. Make it like, one of those where they look like characters.

The Ultimate Ed

The guy voicing Freeza is the one who started Abridge series. You should check out his.

I heard Sean Schemmel loves bring asked to say "muffin button" LOL. Also, the writer KaiserNeko (who also voices Zarbon) is openly gay so he's justified in putting in the f word
