Thank you for showing Appalachian love! I now have difficulty keeping track of all the people I've lost to heroin overdoses; it is very common for us over here (my father is also a lifelong addict, he's in FL somewhere now being a true Floridaman). I'm a 10th generation Irish Appalachian American (yes, *sigh*, the Mayflower); the Scots stuff works out-- Appalachia is heavily German, Irish, and Scottish but more specifically an American identity of Scots-Irish Appalachian, for the Scots in Northern Ireland (see: Ulster Scots, protestant/catholic stuff) who immigrated here. Sidenote, every time Ben jokes about religion, I 1000% resonate with him and sometimes wonder if he is the brother I wish I had!
