The sub plot with Boimler and Rutherford doing the southern accents was so fun and a great reference to Time's Arrow. Seeing Tendi, T'lyn and Mariner together was great and I like how they're shoeing T'lyn as being just slightly different from other Vulcans, but it's still enough that she was sent to the Cerritos. The exploration of Orion culture and addressing the pheromone plot from Enterprise was well done.

Loved this one. First, "Boimerford". Is that what Boimler called it. Must- watch- again! All of the bromance remarks. Paraphrasing: You misted me! Hey, it was an accident. You touched it and it just went off! Mariner: Wow! That's more back story than we ever got on you! Yes, Tendi's story was very much a trans metaphor. Running with the Enterprise episode and showing Orion as basically a "Female Domination" society was hilarious. But even better was the implication that, in a society where men tend to want to submit, Tendi can control them without pheromones, just by her commanding attitude. I agree that, when you take it seriously, a fictional society that treats men the way women are often treated in reality still has it problems, except as a mirror to the wrongs of the real world. But it managed to stay funny while giving a touching set of character interactions between all the main characters including T'Lyn. Even the interaction between the Captain and the alien guy fit in with the theme because she ultimately plays to the guy's machismo and tells him he was very intimidating, which could be problematic but it placates him. Nicekly Tendi-centric but all three subplots very strongly about bonding.
