Hey guys, this is more of a minor update but I thought I'd put it under R&D anyway.

I've been working on porting to Blender as one of many efforts in learning the program.  I already have a decent base knowledge of the program and I've had to deal with importing/exporting already with Kaine, so this the next baby step.  I recently ported a couple models from DAZ that I made into Blender and I thought I'd share some pictures.

Here's the album.

I used a pretty vanilla way of exporting that was only half compatible with the version of Blender I was using, so I ended up having to do a lot of work on my end.  However, it did grant me full armatures with the ported models.  And since I know how to rig a model in Blender, bones and vertex groups are all I need.

I ended up having to manually port the normal, specular, bump, and sub surface maps over from DAZ because I couldn't manage to export them.  This at least gave me some more practice with node editing, but I'll have to research specular and SSS a lot more because I have no clue what I'm doing there.

Efforts break down when it comes to the face and hair, mostly the hair.  Things really start to look Blender-y because the hair has a similar material to the skin.  I'll have to look into how people do hair in Blender, but I'd like to stay away from particles.

I'm going to have to start texting the animation tools of Blender soon, but I've been tip-toeing around it.  Now that I have the models and the armatures, I have less excuses.
