At the end of TVD, Bonnie had injected Stefan with the cure from Elena's sleeping body. And just before Stefan died, he injected Damon. So Elena and Damon are both living their lives as human at this point and can have kids. All will be well as long as nobody takes the cure from Damon until Damon is ready to die, since that will make him age super fast and be gone in days. When he is ready to die though, there is an understanding that Rebekah will take the cure next.

I really enjoyed this episode, but when I remember correctly Klaus wrote the check to Caroline way before Hope even went to the school, so she money should habe been there in the beginning or am I missing something ?

I think you're right. He sent the check when the school opened, in the last episode of tvd. He did it as a way to support Caroline, not Hope. Hope started going there a few years later after Alaric had mentioned the option to Hayley.
