Yeah. This is a solid two parter. Even on a rewatch, it's still one of my top favourite stories and yeah this story is significantly darker than the previous ones mainly because of the focus on death in general, a glimpse of Sarah Jane's past, the accident involving Sarah Jane and Andrea and even the trauma of going through a near death experience. I really liked your analysis with Andrea too. Very spot on about her not being the villain but also not quite being in the right either. Andrea's situation is very complex with the fact that she made a split decision in a circumstance where her life was on the line and naturally she wants to survive as its instinct so she immediately agreed with the voice she heard during that near death experience. It was a realistic reaction. Not to mention, The Trickster manipulated her when she was a kid so she's somewhat a sympathetic character in that regard even when she goes too far near the end. The Trickster made her forget certain things aside from the accident so when the memories resurfaced, she's still having to process it all while at the same time, she's still having that desperation to cling to the life that she's built so she ends up going too far (with removing Maria and then the attempt to remove Alan) even in a hopeless situation where she's destined to die. I absolutely love that they had Alan become a major player in this second part by having him pick up the box so now he's going through a similar experience that Maria went through in Part 1. I really liked how he kept challenging Chrissie to remember Maria and I loved seeing him confront Andrea to the point where she crumbled and told him everything in the Attic. He even called her out for sacrificing Sarah Jane and Maria which I enjoyed. Even acknowledging that he would have forgotten Maria if it wasn't for him finding and holding the box which is accurate. It was funny the way he took down the Groske alien with the skateboard too. And it all cultivates to a perfect climax with the attic scene. The attic scene with Sarah Jane, Alan and Maria confronting Andrea to go back on her deal is one the best moments of the series. The acting is great from everyone in that scene especially from Elisabeth Sladen and Jane Asher. It's a scene that many SJA fans love including myself. Maria saying "I'm sorry Andrea, BUT YOU WERE MEANT TO DIE!" is iconic in the sense that its shocking and somewhat funny but also dark at the same time. The way she tells Andrea so bluntly is funny but Andrea's venomous reaction to that is also chilling too. Such a very intense and well acted moment. But I love how Sarah Jane makes one final appeal to Andrea's better nature by telling her that she was the reason why Sarah Jane became the fighter she was now in defending Earth which is really sweet. It's good that Andrea eventually did the right thing by killing herself but its still very bittersweet in how she's destined to die no matter what and her saying how she'll be forgotten and all the accomplishments she did as an adult will be scrubbed out which is actually really sad. Her reaction could have potentially been different if the meteor wasn't still an issue. The screams that Young Sarah Jane and Andrea would make when they fell off the pier always gave me chills as a kid. They were casted well. The ending is nice and also funny with the way they all realise that Alan knows everything now. The fact that he knows about Sarah Jane and everything is brilliant.

Regarding the Trickster, yes that is his name. We don't actually find out his name until Alan calls him that in the attic scene. But I believe there was a deleted scene where the midget Groske alien told Alan his name when he tied him up. But because that scene was edited out and didn't make it into the episode, this gives the impression that Alan has unknowingly named him as The Trickster which is kinda funny. Sarah Jane's confrontation with the Trickster is also a good scene too. It gives a good reasoning to why other aliens and forces aren't in the timeline that he's created. It's worth mentioning that when he tells her that he intends to use her to find The Doctor and when he says "Imagine if The Doctor had never existed, what chaos there would be across the stars". He actually ends up successfully achieving this later on in Doctor Who Series 4 with the Turn Left episode if you can still remember it. The episode where Donna is put in a parallel world where she never meets The Doctor. The Trickster has a group of beings called The Trickster's Brigade which include The Time Beetle and The Fortune Teller that Donna encountered in Turn Left where they made her turn right (after the beetle attached itself to her back). The Brigade also attempted to change time in 1927 when they smuggled a Brainspawn to Earth which was intended to affect Franklin D Roosevelt (future president at the time). The plan would be for the president to go mad which would lead to the USA and its allies being unable to stop Nazi Germany in the war. But Captain Jack and Angelo prevented this in episode 7 of Torchwood Miracle Day (Immortal Sins episode). The Trickster's Brigade are the only threats and enemies to appear in all three related shows (Doctor Who, Sarah Jane and Torchwood). But this is the first time we see the leader himself given that The Trickster doesn't appear in Doctor Who and Torchwood (only his brigade do).
