**Really curious to know what you all thought of this episode. My friends thought Laurie sold Rue’s body that night, but I didn’t feel like there was any indication that she was sexually assaulted. She had some track marks on her arm from more morphine, but if we were expected to assume her body had been sold that night I don’t think the show went far enough. Even if they didn’t want to be really graphic about it there were ways they could have shown she had been assaulted: ripped clothes, bruises, blood in panties or something if they didn’t want to show Zendaya getting assaulted. That’s why I feel like nothing happened to her but that Laurie was planning to sell her, but Rue escaped just in time. Let me know what you think🤔

Just watching this now but i wanted to say that the beginning of the episode is tragically extremely similar to my ex's big breakdown during his addiction. i think thats why the writers didnt have rue explain why she was freaking out. it played as a double meaning. we all jnow why she freaked out but that is also just how addicts act. heartbreaking. makes me cry every time!

I agree with you. I think Rue got out just in time. Also, there’s theories that Laurie has girls locked in there because there was scratching noises behind the pad locked door😳

otherboy

Yeah I thought there were girls locked back there too🤭 Scary and sad

I agree with you, I think if we she was there any longer she wouldn’t of got out, there is definitely someone or people behind that door hearing the scratches from inside there is chilling. Also when she first answers the door and calls her Ruby Bennet using rues full name so she probably already looked into her background and know where abouts she’s living and who her family is. Also how she said she didn’t have anything to help but morphine but when she got the morphine out of the suitcase there was pills so she knew she wanted to give her something strong and knew rue would want anything to help her withdrawal. The scariest thing for me is after she injects rue in the bath when she says from the moment I met you I knew you was going to be in my life for along time, so all along from when rue came with the business plan and even the first episode where they first meet she was going to do something bad to rue like use her for sex trafficking as she makes the comment about women have there body’s to make money😟

Oh wow I didn’t notice that she used her full name😳🤯 But yeah Laurie was and is a chilling villain. Crazy that she was a teacher too!😂😱

i think laurie intended to sell rue but as you said rue got out in time, i think laurie thought rue would be knocked out longer than she was

otherboy

Maybe Rue’s years of drug use built up her tolerance and saved her😂

I heard somewhere, I think in an interview that it took them a whole month to film this episode. Also, Sam Levinson personally picked Zendaya to play Rue without auditioning her or other actresses for the role. He specifically had her in mind to play Rue which is pretty cool. Zendaya has talked about how she didn't believe him at first that he envisioned her playing the role because she didn't have anything dark/dramatic on her resume yet and was surprised and a bit confused apparently when HBO approached her for the role because of that. But apparently Sam had a vision & trusted in her, and gosh damn has she pulled it off!

otherboy

That’s a scary thought😅

Haven’t seen it but it’s on my list
