I don't have sisters, but I have many close female friends that I have lived with over the years, and my mother grew up with seven sisters. The relationship between Fleabag and Claire, is so real. They love each other to bits even when they bicker and push each other away. The revelation that high powered, married, societally "successful" sister is jealous of her "screw up" sister is so relatable. That is truly how many women relate. The Kristen Thomas Scott scene was so amazing to me as well. As a woman in her early 40s myself who is praying for menopause, it was so revelatory and aspirational. Sadly, I recently saw some valid concerns raised about the message that may be sent to non CIS gendered women by that scene. Given some of the hard line non inclusive feminism that's come out of the UK recently, I do understand that a statement that the biology of womanhood is so defining of the female experience can be seen as troubling. I hate to think of any woman feeling less complete or truly female because of a piece of media. However, there is part of me that feels that what she's describing as so intrinsic to my own experience that It leaves me torn. It's a point of reflection that I don't have a good answer to. Lastly, OMG! When Priest notices her talking to us! That is such a delightfully jarring plot twist that I never could have imagined. Strange to say, but the fox thing is very relatable for me, because of a time in my life when I seemed to be being stalked by references to bird and pirates that culminated in a parrot on my 12th floor window sill in Brooklyn in December. (Turns out feral parrots in Brooklyn are a real thing. Look it up. ) You really do feel like you're going mad when the synchronicity catches up to you in that way.

I sort of relate to the fox thing too! Even to this day cats follow me around😂

The toned down conversational scenes were incredible. Belinda and Fleabag did have great chemistry and her advice and wisdom was so needed. When I first watched the show I really didn’t know how much I needed to hear that. We are born with inherited pain that society/men use to define us. I need to think about it more but I would say it contributes to the whole women are weak rhetoric. The fact that we are ‘held back’ by these systems when instead the dialogue should be about how strong we are for living with it. It’s an important conversation for sure and one that needs to explore intersectionality. Then the final scene with the Priest! I’m so in love with how intimate their conversations are even about mundane things. The chemistry and compatibility is oozing. Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Andrew Scott have been friends for about 10 years I think. There was an interview PWB gave saying that once she thought about adding religion to season she instantly thought of Andrew Scott. Luckily he accepted the role aha! But back to the scene, someone finally notices us. Essentially what Fleabag is doing is dissociating or thinking away for those moments she’s with us and it’s so lovely that the Priest is the one who noticed her doing it. He’s so in tune with her. It reminds me of the first episode of the season when Fleabag was telling us how nobody had asked her a question yet and the Priest intersects and asks her about herself. Such a sweet addition to the story!
