I'm glad you enjoyed this! I think the pilot was filmed in L.A., but the rest of the series was filmed in British Columbia, so Psych and Supernatural share a lot of the same guest stars and locations. Kind of a fun little Where’s Waldo. The pilot is for sure a set-up episode to establish the characters and premise, making it more rigid than the rest of the series. Which actually has 8 seasons (though only 16 episodes each), plus a musical episode and two movies 😂 The second episode is much more in line with the rest of the series and addresses a lot of the concerns you had, particularly regarding Gus. He's meant to be the straight man in the duo, so he's a lot less obnoxious than Shawn is, but from the second episode onwards he's not as negative as he's introduced to be. On the subject of why Shawn and Gus are friends, I think the creators and/or actors have said that if they met as adults they wouldn't be, but since they were best friends as children they're largely immune to their differences. Henry definitely is a jackass. Though one prevailing fan theory is that a big part of why he forced Shawn into all the memory exercises was to tone down his ADD. Making Shawn notice every detail and retain all of it to recite later gave Shawn something to focus on. Plus it was the '80s so I don't think things like ADD were quite as understood or acknowledged like they are now. Henry probably thought most if not all of Shawn's hyperactivity was simply Shawn acting out and being immature rather than having a real disorder. Henry's attitude and harshness is unjustifiable, of course, and the way he went about getting Shawn to focus wasn't the right way to go, but I think he thought it was the best (and maybe only) route at the time. Especially since he wanted Shawn to follow in his footsteps, he felt that honing his observational skills would help him become a cop. Which ended up backfiring spectacularly 😄 Anyway, thanks for your reaction!

This show would be good for you to react to, especially now that you’re done with Veronica Mars. It’s a good show to take the place of that one, though it’s lighter in tone (but I like that because I want to see you react to more comedy)

It’s an interesting show. As for more comedy I think most would be disappointed in my reactions to “comedic” shows since the writing for comedies has gone way down these days imo. I started Schitt’s Creek with my mom and I can barely get through it.

Shadowhunters is where my favorite series couple comes from. I think you'd like it too, it's one of the few non-toxic couples that exist in the series
