Yeahh, this episode has a cool concept, but is executed so, so roughly. The storyline with the Brothers feels so.. dull? And the ending is, quite cheap!

Hi Brandon, nice reaction to a so-so episode. Such a good concept and with great interest to visit more of the Tardis, but this episode is a bit off somehow. I do enjoy Clara's adventures as she continues to adapt to this new lifestyle, but to be honest the ending felt a bit, meh. Oh well, onward to the next episode which I do like very much as it's really creepy, yeah! Take care.

Moffatt admitted that he paid a comparative lack of attention to this run of stories,as he was busy working on the 50th Anniversary stuff. It does certainly feel at this point as though the series is simply treading water. This particular story irritates me for being too 'clever' for its own good. The whole 'big red re-set button' is far too self-consciously knowing;and as for that whole absurd business of convincing someone that they're actually a robot.. It's as though the writer thought it would be a nifty idea to turn the old sci-fi trope of having the human protagonist be unaware that they were a convincingly programmed robot all along (Bladerunner, et al) on its head - but it's just silly. Did Tricky never once cut himself? Get emotional over something? Answer a call of nature?? Any of these things (particularly the last one!) would have been a bit of a give-away, wouldn't it? The voices heard in the console room (when Bram rips part of it off) are from earlier stories. For example, you can hear the 9th Doctor talking about the Tardis (from the episode ''Rose');the Doctors granddaughter Susan, and the first human companion Ian Chesterton ("A thing that looks like a Police Box,standing in a junkyard?") Oh,and on the subject of which: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x65ze9l (It would be extremely useful,as well as entertaining, for you to react to that within the next few weeks - leading up to the 50th Anniversary)

I don't really understand this episode either

You made a good point / prediction in your afterthoughts that I'll bring up sometime next month after you react to a certain episode! Good catch.

Evan!!

Steve Thompson is among my least favorite writers for Doctor Who on the basis of just episode quality and this one is no exception. I haven't seen this one since broadcast, it's just baffling.

I seem to be in the minority here - I love this episode. Flawed for sure, with some story strands that dont work (robot brother for instance) but overall, I really like it. I like the performances from the two leads and exploring the Tardis - there's more to like than dislike for me on this one and the stuff that was done well is good enough to outweigh the stuff that wasnt.

DeathSwitch

Cool idea... (nearly) a whole episode just inside the Tardis... but Moffat told this story better in The Doctors Wife imo 😅

Shields were down showing Clara the TARDIS controls --- TARDIS vulnerable when the Brothers hijacked, effected fuel line (somehow) --- TARDIS eventually blows up, killing everyone inside --- this causes time leaks throughout the past, meaning their burnt, rabid selves were also wandering around in the past, chasing their past selves --- gradually the Doctor is closer to fixing the situation as at the begining, when Clara burnt her hand, there was no Doctor screaming through a portal --- eventually we reach a point where the Doctor IS screaming through a portal which is the timeline that'll fix everything... i think. This episode is notorious for being a wasted opportunity, Moffat can get too convoluted for his own good. BTW The Brother that was more of a dick is currently in a buddy cop series with Noel Clarke (Mickey from earlier Who)

Like you, I like parts of this episode. I like the big confrontation between Clara and the Doctor, and I like seeing and learning more about the Tardis. It's a shame Clara forgot it all. Also, I just think Clara looks super cute this episode. That's neither here nor there, but dangit she's adorable haha.

Overall I enjoyed it, but it did have some issues, all of which I think has been included in other comments. I did love the library though
