This is far and away my favourite episode of the first season - it's so much better than pretty much all the other stories,it makes me wonder if it wasn't perhaps written for some other show (it doesn't have an 'alien' theme,for example);but re-written for Torchwood..? Whatever the case,I love the one-off characters and their different responses to being taken out of their time. It's beautifully written and performed. THIS is what Torchwood should have been - instead of putting so much stress on gore and sex.
