Alice turned into a niffin, which happens when you use too much magic/too powerful magic and the magic consumes you. It's what happened to Alice's brother, we saw him in early season 1 - completely without humanity. And I think the bracelet that Alice was wearing began burning as a warning sign that she didn't have enough power left to cast the spell
