Thank you for another fantastic reaction!!! I'm always so excited to see you've posted a new reaction for Once Upon a Time. :) And I really, really love this episode a lot. It's another one of my absolute favorite episodes from season one. For one, I really love that we get a backstory and an origin for Jiminy Cricket, which we've never gotten before in any fairytale version of Pinocchio. Also, I really love Archie's character a lot. He's definitely and easily one of my favorite of the non main characters. And Raphael Sbarge, who plays Archie/Jiminy is a very talented actor, who I really like a lot. As for why Jiminy didn't feel like he could leave his parents' in spite of being in his late twenties, early thirties within the past storyline... his parents were extremely manipulative and verbally abusive... so much so that Jiminy came to hate the man he was and more so, the life he was trapped in. He saw himself to be as they were, when in truth Jiminy was a good man who simply wanted to be free. I really love this about him and the parallel into the Storybrooke world as it reveals that Jiminy was a man who took a long time to finally realize who he wanted to be like Henry tells Archie. As for why Jiminy went to Rumplestiltskin to deliver to him some of the trinkets he and his parents stole... it isn't really explained, but Rumple is a character who has his hands in everything and dealings with everyone in some form or another, and chances are, Jiminy's parents have some sort of deal with him where they have to give him a certain kind of percentage of all they steal. He is Jiminy's parents' fence essentially. Plus... in Storybrooke, Gold has all kinds of trinkets inside his pawnshop that all came over in the curse from the Enchanted Forest, although because they are the Land Without Magic, none of these items have maintained their magical properties. Also... I really love how Jiminy wishes to become a cricket so he could escape from his parents and take care of the boy as he longs to do in order to help make up for what happened to Geppetto's parents. Because he definitely feels he is indebted to Geppetto now like you said and it is so beautiful. Jiminy loves crickets, and he sees them as free creatures. Plus... Jiminy's parents would keep searching for him as a man if he tried to escape, but would never think to look for him in the disguise of a cricket. I love that we get to see more of the Blue Fairy from the Pinocchio story again too, as she comes down from the sky to grant Jiminy's wish. Not only does him being a cricket allow for him to escape from his life, but it allows for him to continue to help the young boy, who we learned is Geppetto, whose parents suffered from Jiminy's parents' cruelty and the potion given to him from Rumplestiltskin. Sadly, this potion back fired and turned Geppetto's parents into wooden puppets. Scary wooden puppets too, that we see in the very end within Gold's shop. The reason why Rumple wanted to take them is never explained, but he has his reasons for everything. Also... Geppetto seeing his parents as puppets most likely instilled the fascination and need in Geppetto to learn how to carve figures and puppets from wood, as he grows into the man we know him to be from Pinocchio. It's brilliant. I absolutely love this parallel to Geppetto carving Pinocchio out of wood as well. :) I love that Jiminy wants to help the boy, like Jiminy Cricket is known for being Pinocchio's conscience in the Disney movie and fairytale of Pinocchio. And I love that Jiminy/Archie has come to be Geppetto's/Marco's closest friend in both worlds like Henry tells him and Emma too. As for Henry... a lot of people feel that his character is weak in the beginning of this show, but the actor who plays him... Jared Gilmore does continue to grow into the character and he improves as the show continues on. I however have loved him from the very beginning. He's adorable. Now... I love the entire storyline for Archie in this episode. I really felt badly for him when Regina threatens him if he doesn't crush Henry's "delusion". But I love, love, love how he stands up to her in the end and tells her that he's going to continue to help Henry the way his conscience sees fit. Definitely one of my favorite moments in this episode. It's most definitely an Emma moment for Archie. :) I deeply love the storyline between Archie and Henry, as Henry helps him to remember who Archie feels he wants to be while they're trapped inside the collapsed mine, after Archie shatters his spirit in a low blow after Regina's threat, and it breaks Archie to do so. You can see the pain and regret on his face right away. However, his weakness makes him human and I love seeing all sides of this incredible character. And his storyline is beautiful because it shares a powerful message for all those watch it. It also gives Henry more of a resolve to find proof in what he's been trying to tell everyone. I think it's wonderful that Henry has right away allowed Archie to be in on Operation Cobra too, because it shows just how much he cares about Archie, and how much Archie means to him. This is also why Archie's words to him really crushed him. I'm sure a part of him sensed somewhat that what Archie told him about being crazy were words coming from his adopted mother because she might have threatened him, but because Archie means so much to him, the pain from the words Archie spoke to him hurt him even more. And then... the mine is continuing to collapse and Archie and Henry enter inside of an old elevator shaft to try to get out, but in another collapse, the elevator falls and the ground beneath them gives way a little more, trapping them within the shaft, as the elevator's about to collapse. As for Pongo, Archie's dog... Pongo is from Disney's 101 Dalmatians and I love this too. And Pongo is important in Archie's life. For the creators and writers, Archie seemed like the right choice to be his owner and he really is. Pongo is so cute!!! I really like how Pongo helps everyone working to save Henry and Archie from the mine by locating where they are. And I love how everyone comes together from the town to save them. At last... Emma volunteers to be lowered into the shaft to help them out and the elevator is about to fall. I love that Archie uses his umbrella... said back in the episode, The Thing You Love Most, to be Archie's lucky charm. This is proven to be true when his umbrella is what saves his life, as it allows him to grab onto one of the rings hanging on Emma's belt. And then... the crickets begin chirping in Storybrooke because Archie finds the will to stand up to Regina. I love how him finding it in him again to be who he really wants to be, and Emma choosing to stay on as Deputy and making roots for herself makes more changes throughout Storybrooke, and continues to weaken the curse. And lastly... as for what's shown down at the bottom of the mine after Regina and Henry both find the shards of glass, which Regina then drops down into the mine in the end... we see Snow White's shattered glass coffin down there. It's not ever really explained why it's down there, but this isn't the last time it's seen either. Overall... I love this episode very much for the uniqueness of Jiminy Cricket's origin story. I can't wait for more!!!! Thank you so much again!!! Until next time...

It was a very moving episode. I enjoyed getting to know Jiminy. But he was not in his twenties or thirties lol😂 He was totally 45-50 years old so I was like just leave your parents, you’re a grown man lol

So I'm watching this show for the first time with you, and I already know this might not be a popular opinion, but I really like Regina. It could just be the actress playing her, but she is so forceful and watching her "extreme" scenes, like when she was laying into Jimminy; I was just thinking, her lines hit you right in the gut. I love watching her on screen. And to an extent I do feel for her when it comes to Henry because I think I'm connecting it to real life too much. She has raised this child, and trust me, I know more goes into raising a child then food and water. He should feel loved and nurtured and he obviously doesn't. Still to imagine this women coming to town that gave the child up, suddenly wanting to take part in his life after Regina has raised him up until now, I could see why Regina would take issue with her. But of course this is a fairy tale TV show where the Mayor is also moonlighting as the evil queen so there's that. Another unpopular opinion, so far.... Henry is super annoying 😂. I'm sure I'll feel differently soon because he's a kid and he has to learn, but it's like this kid is allergic to following directions. Like going into a mine that you've been told is dangerous 🙄. I know that's his thing, Henry is literally what progresses the plot because he sets things in motion, but my goodness can he just sit still for a minute. I hope my comments aren't too upsetting. I just needed to vent. What can I say, I like the evil queen, and I'm annoyed by a child🤷🏾‍♀️👍🏾. One thing I'm still not clear on though....can Regina remember everything or not? I'm still lost on that. Anyway I'm liking watching the show with you sense I probably wouldn't have otherwise. See you next time.🤗

Haha I’m usually annoyed by children too, but I like Henry because of his relationship with Emma. I can totally see where Regina is coming from but then I remember that she murdered her own father. But yeah Regina is very human and wants to protect her son, but she doesn’t understand that the more she pushes the more Emma will get in her way. If she just worked with her like in this episode she would be happier, but I’m guessing that’s never gonna happen or at least not for awhile.

I just discovered your reaction and have enjoyed watching your reactions. As Heidi mentioned, that was indeed Snow White's glass coffin at the bottom of the mine. I found that very significant when I first saw this because, as you mentioned in an earlier episode, I wasn't sure if we were meant to assume that all the flashbacks we saw in the Enchanted Forest were really meant to be taken by the audience to be as real as the events in Storybrooke. In your reaction to the pilot, you wondered if the events we were seeing might be a dream of Emma's. When I first saw the show, I wondered if the flashbacks in Enchanted Forest were meant to be seen as just what Henry imagined had taken place, based upon what he read in his book. Since he clearly had a troubled relationship with Regina, it would be natural for him to picture his mom as the Evil Queen, his beloved teacher as Snow White, etc... So this episode was important in showing me I was wrong in assuming that. This was the first time we saw physical proof that the events in the flashbacks really did happen, since we saw Snow White's glass coffin both in flashbacks and today in Storybrooke.

Omg that is true! This is proof that everything Henry said is real. Welcome to the channel!😄
