Welcome to Songhaven Academy and the Bard’s Quarter, the artisan district of a large city and primary source of entertainment and performance training in the city.
   

Songhaven is a school dedicated to the training and development of artists, whether they be dancers, musicians, singers, painters, sculptors or any other profession representative of the fine arts. The school is comprised of several different buildings secured by a perimeter wall and a pair of guard towers. It is located just northeast of the Majestic theater, where many its students audition and perform regularly.
   

The Bard’s Quarter is home to several street vendors, shops and businesses. Some of the major points of interest include the following:

THE MAJESTIC | THEATER


This massive outdoor theater is the primary draw of the quarter, ushering in a wealth of merchants, noble patrons, visiting dignitaries and other members of high society each and every day for its matinee, first and second show.
   

The multi-level theater not only provides entertainment for much of the city, but also proves as convenient proving ground for starving artists hungry for fame and fortune. It is upon the Majestic’s stage that many a bard hopes to catch the attention of a wealthy patron.
   

The theater is also a political medium, frequently offering social commentary in the form of plays, musicals and the occasional burlesque show, drawing nobles to constantly vie for the services of talented playwrights.

THE WORTHY NOTE | TAVERN


This famous tavern is owned by a well-known patron of the arts and ex-adventurer, a portly bard named Killian Worth. 

In his prime, Killian was a sharp-tongued adventuring bard that was well-known among the many taverns of the city for singing tales of his exploits.
 As the years passed, Killian found that he grew less and less interested in the reality of hard travel and sought the conveniences and soft comforts of the city, using much of his wealth to purchase and renovate an old tavern in the quarter, reopening as the ‘Worthy Note’.
   

The Note, as many call it, is not only a pleasant tavern, but a battleground of would-be performers seeking a patron or simply the favor and respect of their peers. Fierce battles of wits, poetry, music and dance grace the stage late into the evening hours, as practicing bards ply their trade and seek their fortune.


GALLERY OF FACES | ART GALLERY


This modest gallery holds several fine works of art, all of them portraits. The Gallery of Faces is known to be a fine place for nobility and other patrons to view the works of local talent and seek the appropriate style to immortalize them in a portrait. 
   

It is also known in certain circles that the gallery serves as a front for the local thieves’ guild.


AUDRA’S INSTRUMENTS | SHOP


A large building crammed with wooden tables and instruments of all shapes and sizes, this shop is a frequent haunt of many a musician seeking the finest quality instrument or repair. Its owner is a musical virtuoso named Audra Mills, who also teaches at the Academy.

A more detailed write up, along with at least [8] NPC portraits and tokens will be accompanying the next Map Pack, which will contain additional floors/levels of many of the buildings pictured here, including the Worthy Note, the Majestic Theater, and a couple of the Academy buildings.

Down the road, there will also be a 3rd Map Pack that will feature an underground level to this map, including a lower level of the theater, academy, worthy note and a network of sewer tunnels, along with several more portraits, tokens and a writeup with a potential villain and plot.

I hope you enjoy this map, as it may well be one of my most detailed at this scale!
