Kraken's Rest is a two-story tavern located on the edge of a port town, which offers respite from the harsh weather and dangerous waters of the seas beyond it. Built about the skeleton of a massive kraken, tales abound as to how the beast came to lay upon the shores. Some whisper that it washed ashore many years ago after battling a sea god, while other sailors claim it was harpooned by a legendary captain and beached for the kill.

The two-story tavern offers beds to sailing crews looking to make port, and serves as a common source of employment, rumors and adventure.

Across the street from the tavern stands a general store, a large wooden octopus painted a deep crimson hue holding its sign, "Tarrington's". The shop belongs to Kit Tarrington, the son of a famous sea dog who tucked away his share of treasures to eventually purchase the building and create a business after retiring from his life at sea.

The first floor of Kraken's Rest contains:

Common Room - this large common room contains several tables, couches, chairs, crackling hearth and a long wooden bar flanked by two massive vertebrae of the fallen kraken, tall enough for someone to walk beneath them.

VIP Lower Room - in the southwest corner of the tavern is the lower level of its VIP accomodations, with bunks and storage on the upper level.

Bar Storage - a small chamber exists between the common room and kitchen, holding wine, ale and other goods frequently needed at the bar for immediate sale.

Kitchen - a large kitchen rests behind the bar, cooking up all manner of savory dishes, soups, breads and stews for its many visitors.

Store Room - accessible from the docks, this store room holds the bulk of the tavern's supplies, food, ale and serves as temporary storage for items belonging to those staying in its rooms.

The upper floor of Kraken's Rest contains:

VIP Upper Room - this chamber contains bunks, comfortable seating and storage for the wealthier of crews moving through the port.

Bedrooms - a variety of private rooms sleeping anywhere between 1 and 6, ranging in overall decor, cost and quality of contents.

Privies and Bath - the northeastern section hosts two private baths and privies, emptying out pipes along the exterior of the building into the sea below.
