014. You, me and Ed. All together. (Patreon)

So Hastings is great. That’s the city Ed and I moved to: Hastings. And Hastings is lovely guys. It’s a city on the south coast of England, full of charity shops and fish and chip kiosks. We are in love.

The city is quite small though (less than 100.000 habitants) and it’s known because of the Battle of Hastings (1066) and its castle. The other day Ed and I visited the old part of Hastings known as “the old town” and we couldn’t believe how beautiful everything is. We known the city has a terrible reputation (apparently is full of unemployed people, alcoholics and drug addicts) but seriously, does people know how lovely everything is?

So, since we moved, Ed and I have:

-Bought a fridge, washing machine and cooker. 

-Discovered the city, new conners, new coffee shops, new charity shops. Last weekend we found a new vegan restaurant in St Leonards called Nico’s and is amazing!

-Going on a walk every day to get to know our neighbourhood better. We still can’t believe we live near the beach, so we take long walks just to breath fresh air. Plus Ed is working on a new play and he’s been struggling with how to approach the text, so we talk hours and hours about our projects and plans.

Hastings es genial. Esa es la ciudad en la que Ed y yo nos mudamos: Hastings. Y Hastings es encantadora nerds. Es una ciudad en la costa Sur de Inglaterra, llena de tiendas de antiguedades y kioskos de papitas con pescado. Estamos enamorados.

La ciudad es bastante pequeña (menos de 100.000 habitantes) y es conocida por la Batalla de Hastings (1066) y su castillo. El otro día Ed y yo visitamos la vieja parte de Hastings conocida como "the old town" y no podíamos creer cuan hermoso todo es. Sabemos que la ciudad tiene una super mala reputación (aparentemente está llena de gente desempleada, alcohólicos y drogadictos) pero en serio, la gente sabe lo lindo que es todo?

Entonces, desde que nos mudamos, Ed y yo hemos:

-Comprado un refrigerador, lavadora y cocina.

-Descubierto la ciudad, nuevas esquinas, nuevos cafés, nuevas tiendas de antiguedades. El fin de semana pasado encontramos un restaurante vegano que abrió hace poco en St. Leonards llamado Nico's y es increíble!

-Ir por largas caminatas para descubrir nuevas zonas de nuestro barrio. Aun no podemos creer que vivimos cerca de la playa, así que caminamos mucho rato sólo para tomar aire fresco. Además Ed está trabajando en una nueva obra de teatro y está teniendo problemas con cómo escribirla, así que nos vamos de paseo por horas y horas para conversar de nuestros planes y proyectos.

RIGHT NOW I’M ENJOYING

I don’t wanna be one more of the bunch, but oh guys Stranger Things on Netflix, go and watch it. Ed and I finished the entire first season in 4 days (we did our best not to binge watch the whole thing in one siting). I’m also enjoying a lot the feeling of starting again on a new place. Moving from one flat to the other is stressful, but the good thing about it is to plan a new space from the start. I haven’t had my own office for a while, and organising the shelves, the drawers and the space how I like it’s so comforting!

No quiero ser una más del montón, pero oh nerds Stranger Things en Netflix, vayan y véanla. Ed y yo terminamos la primera temporada en 4 días (hicimos lo mejor que pudimos para no ver toda la serie en una sentada). También estoy disfrutando mucho el hecho de empezar de nuevo en un lugar nuevo. Cambiarse de un departamento a otro es mega estresante, pero lo bueno es planear un espacio desde el principio. No he tenido mi propio espacio de trabajo en un buen rato, y organizar las repisas, cajones y el espacio como a mi me gusta es tan reconfortante! 

UPCOMING PROJECTS

OOOOOH LORD GUYS! I’m so happy you are here and I can share this stuff here with you! You are one more on our Nerd Club House Gang. One of the reasons behind why Ed and I wanted this flat was because we needed a creative space, a safe place to work on our projects without the pressure of paying a super expensive rent. Like a getaway, a retreat. So here we are, you, me and Ed. All together. Isn’t this nice? During August I want to keep working on the friendship book and both podcasts. I want to add more things to the mix SO BAD (like practice new characters and painting techniques), but I want to see how it goes with the amount of work I have for the moment.

OOOOOOHHHH POR DIOS NERDS! Estoy tan feliz de que estén aquí y de poder compartir estas cosas aquí con ustedes! Ustedes son un integrante más en nuestra pandilla de la Casa del Arbol Nerd. Una de las razones de por qué Ed y yo queríamos este departamento era porque necesitábamos un espacio creativo, un lugar seguro donde trabajar en nuestros proyectos sin la presión de pagar un arriendo carísimo. Como una escapada, un retiro. Así que aquí estamos, tu, yo y Ed. Todos juntos. No es bonito? Durante Agosto quiero seguir trabajando en el libro de la Amistad y en los dos podcasts. Me muero de agregar más cosas por hacer (como practicar nuevos personajes y técnicas de pintura) pero veamos cómo van las cosas primero y cómo me va con la carga laboral que tengo por ahora.

Next week it’s my youtube come-back, and I honestly don’t know where to begin: I want to talk about the last art supplies I’ve been enjoying, how I choose my colour palette, and I want to review the stone-paper sketchbook. Have you heard of that by the way? It’s a sketchbook made out of stone-paper instead of wood-paper, and people say it’s amazing!

Besides that, I want to upload at least one weekly helpful post on my blog. This week I talked about the true behind living in London because people keep asking me how do Ed and I lived there. So I told everything: the good, the bad and the ugly. I really hope it was helpful! I’ve always had big and high expectations on my blog (because I love it and I love sharing content and help people) but every time I set a goal (3 posts per week) I can’t seem to find time or ideas, so hopefully this works!

La próxima semana será mi regreso en Youtube y honestamente nerds, no sé dónde partir: quiero hablar de los últimos artículos de arte que he estado disfrutando, cómo elijo mi paleta de colores, y quiero hacer una reseña de la libreta de papel hecho de piedra. Han oído hablar de eso? Es una libreta que el papel está hecho de piedra en vez de papel hecho de madera, y la gente dice que es increíble!

Además de eso quiero subir al menos un post de ayuda a mi blog a la semana. Esta semana hablé de la verdad detrás de vivir en Londres porque me han llegado muchos comentarios y preguntas sobre cómo Ed y yo vivimos ahí. Así que dije todo: lo bueno, lo malo y lo feo. Espero que haya sido útil! siempre he tenido grandes expectativas con mi blog (porque lo amo y porque me gusta compartir contenido y ayudar a la gente) pero cada vez que me pongo una meta (3 posts a la semana) no logro dar con ideas o con el tiempo, espero que esto si funcione!

Thank you guys so much for all your lovely comments in the past few weeks. You have NO IDEA how happy your messages made us Ed and I feel. For a long time we kept the moving thing a secret, even from friends, because of how stressful and anxious the situation was. People kept going and going to see our flat in London, and we had no idea where we were going to live! But you guys always listened and always supported us with super cute comments and pictures. 

We’re now finally entering “the awesome zone/period” where I can finally share good news and projects with you. Of course I’ll keep sharing my fears and angry/sad moments with you, but hopefully there’s more interesting-good things in the future! PLEASE feel free to share these things here too, awesome times but also your struggles. I hope you’re having a fantastic Sunday, all my big and beach-y love from windy Hastings.

Muchas gracias nerds por todos sus hermosos comentarios en estas últimas semanas. NO TIENEN IDEA lo feliz que esos mensajes nos hicieron a mi y a Ed. Durante mucho tiempo no le contamos a nadie lo de la mudanza, incluso a amigos, por lo estresante y angustiante que todo fue. La gente seguía yendo a ver nuestro depa en Londres, y nosotros no teníamos idea a dónde íbamos a vivir! Pero ustedes siempre escucharon y siempre nos apoyaron con sus tiernos comentarios y fotos.

Ahora por fin entramos la la etapa/zona GENIAL, donde por fin puedo compartir buenas noticias y proyectos con ustedes. Por supuesto que seguiré compartiendo mis miedos y momentos tristes y de enojo con ustedes, pero esperemos que serán más cosas lindas e interesantes en el futuro! POR FAVOR siéntanse con toda la libertar de compartir esas cosas aquí también, momentos increíbles pero también sus preocupaciones o problemas. Espero que estén teniendo un hermoso Domingo, todo mi gran y playero amor desde un ventoso Hastings.
