4. Sunshine showers every day (Patreon)

Hi my good nerd friends. Today is a beautiful day here in London city. It’s, what I call, “my favourite type of weather” cause it’s super bright and shiny outside, but it’s still crispy cold. Something I really really missed when Ed and I were living in Berlin was sunlight. This was because our flat was facing south (if I’m not wrong) so we never had direct sunlight in our flat. Imagine how sad Hamburguesa and Cereal were. Now we’re super lucky and they have sunshine showers every day (or at least when it’s not cloudy, which is often).

How are you guys? How’s been your life, your year so far? I can’t believe is March already. 

This week was a super hectic week. It was also a very important week because Ed and I FINALLY bought a couch. After 7 months without one, you realised how important is to have a place to relax, lay down and be a potato. You might think “Fran, this is not a big deal, you’re over reacting” but oh no. It was tough. We either lay down in our bed to watch some series (which was super uncomfortable because our bed doesn’t have a headboard) or we enjoyed our meal while watching a movie siting on the floor. In the beginning it was all fine and fun, but 7 months later we couldn’t stop thinking about a couch. So as soon as Ed got paid his first salary (yes, Ed started working in an agency part time as a copywriter!) we bought a second hand couch on GumTree. I can’t believe we found this beauty for £200 and (I know this sounds silly because it’s just a couch but) we’re so SO excited!

Hola mis amados nerds. Hoy es un hermoso día aquí en la ciudad de Londres. Es, lo que yo llamo "mi clima favorito" porque está mega soleado y brillante, pero aun heladito. Algo que Ed y yo extrañamos mucho cuando vivíamos en Berlín, era la luz del sol. Esto era porque nuestro departamento daba al sur (si no me equivoco) así que nuestro depa nunca tenía luz directa del sol.  Imaginen cuan triste Hamburguesa y Cereal estaban. Ahora somos muy afortunados y ellos tienen duchas de sol todos los días (o al menos cuando no está nublado, que es bastante común).

Esta semana fue super movida. Y fue también una semana importante porque Ed y yo FINALMENTE compramos un sillón. Después de 7 meses sin uno, nos dimos cuenta de qué tan importante es tener un lugar para relajarse, recostarse y ser una papa. Ustedes quizás pensarán "Fran, esto no es tan horrible, estás exagerando" pero oh no. Fue difícil. O nos recostábamos en la cama para ver series (que era mega incómodo porque nuestra cama no tiene cabecera) o disfrutábamos de una película con nuestra cena sentados en el piso. Y en el comienzo todo estaba bien y era divertido, pero 7 meses después no podíamos dejar de pensar en un sillón. Así que a penas Ed recibió su primer sueldo (si, Ed empezó a trabajar en una agencia medio tiempo!) compramos un sillón de segunda mano en GumTree. No puedo creer que encontramos esta belleza por £200 y (sé que suena tonto porque es sólo un sillón, pero) estamos TAN emocionados!

RIGHT NOW I’M ENJOYING

Oh my nerds, I’m OBSESSED with Mad Men. I know, I’m so late to this, but better late than ever, am I right? I’m in season 5 and I’m so sad it’s going to end (eventually).

Even though I’m still reading The Goldfinch, my good illus-friend Mais lent me the famous graphic novel ‘That one Summer’ and it’s beautiful. Please give it a go if you can. 

I don’t know if I made it clear earlier, but I’m also enjoying my couch a lot.

Oh nerds, estoy OBSESIONADA con Mad Men. Lo sé, estoy tan tarde con esto, pero más vale tarde que nunca, verdad? Estoy en la temporada 5 y estoy tan triste que se vaya a terminar (eventualmente). 

A pesar de que aun estoy leyendo The Goldfinch, my buena amiga ilustradora Mais me prestó la famosa novela gráfica "That one Summer" y es hermosa. Por favor léanla si pueden.

No sé si lo dejé en claro antes, pero también estoy disfrutando mucho mi sillón.

UPCOMING PROJECTS

I’m so happy to announce I’m going to be doing Charlie’s book illustrations! I’m so excited to work along my good friend Charlie, specially knowing that his book is all about fun science. I’m sure youtubers get lots and lots of offers for book deals all the time, but it’s so nice to know that Charlie took this opportunity to talk about science and inspire kids to know more about the world we live and the universe. 

This week I also started the sketches for NovasTrio second album. I don’t know if you guys know this, but my good friend Reca (who lives in NY and he’s a well known jazz drummer) has a band called NovasTrio and I was in charge of all the design and illustrations for their first album. I’m so happy to know they want to keep working with me! Once the whole process is done, I’m sure I’m going to post a video with the behind the scenes, would you guys be interested in that?

Estoy mega mega feliz de anunciar que haré las ilustraciones del libro de Charlie! Estoy tan emocionada de trabajar con mi amigo Charlie, especialmente sabiendo que este libro será todo sobre el lado divertido de la ciencia. Estoy segura que a los youtubers les ofrecen muchas ofertas para hacer/escribir libros, pero es tan bonito saber que Charlie tomó esta oportunidad para hablar de la ciencia e inspirar a que más niños sepan el mundo y el universo donde vivimos.

Esta semana también partí con los bocetos para el segundo disco de NovasTrio. No sé si ustedes saben esto nerds, pero mi buen amigo Reca (que vive en NY y es un baterista de jazz conocido) tiene una banda llamada NovasTrio y yo estuve a cargo de las ilustraciones y el diseño del primer disco. Estoy tan feliz que ellos quieran seguir trabajando conmigo! Una vez que el proceso esté listo, quiero grabar un video con todo el detrás de las cámaras, estarían interesados en eso? 

UPCOMING CONTENT

Since March is going to be super super busy, I’ve to get super organised! This sunday is my “draw my calendar day” where I draw my wall calendar and plan my monthly content on youtube, plan my posts here with you guys on Patreon and on my blog. This month I want to go to my favourite museum The National Gallery and film a Let’s Draw Outside and plus film a video about inspiration (still pending from last week). Also, you guys here always give me the best ideas for videos, and you suggested an updated art materials video or to talk more about how to get clients or avoid working for free. Thank you so much for your ideas!

Como Marzo va a ser un mes algo caótico, quiero estar mega organizada! Este domingo es mi día de dibujar mi calendario, donde dibujo mi calendario a mano y organizo mi contenido en youtube, planeo mis posts aquí en Patreon para ustedes y mi blog. Este mes quiero ir a mi museo favorito The National Gallery y grabar un Let's Draw Outside y grabar un video acerca de la inspiración (aun pendiente de la semana pasada). Ustedes siempre me están dando las mejores ideas para videos, y sugirieron una versión actualizada de mis materiales de arte o hablar más de cómo conseguir clientes o evitar trabajar gratis. Me? Oh! Today Ed and I’re going to watch House of Cards, OH YEAH BABY FINALLY! We bought vegan macaroni and cheese and I think Ed’s going to buy some beers on the way home.
