Marissa's scene was so gut-wrenching. i saw so much of myself in it. When he says "my family thinks this, or my friends think that" about your relationship, don't think you can change his mind because it's already made up and he's using those people to avoid accountability and blame. When she asked, "Are you sure?" I crumbled. This mirrored a past experience for me a little too much. Since then I've made a lot of changes and done a lot of work. It also hurts so much when people don't have conversations with you about your relationship and then have them with other people where they apparently collectively decide what's best FOR BOTH OF YOU. Marissa also suffers from an autoimmune disease (rheumatoid arthritis) which i have too and it’s just another layer why she is so upset. Ramses reminds me of every man I’ve ever known who comes out of a strict religious upbringing.
