We sit down with the chilling and lovely Betsy Puckett, the voice of Granny White and talk about a whole bunch of things including growing up in NC, the magic of Old Gods, some super secret Old Gods lore and other stuff too.

Per Betsy's request, here is the text of the poem that her reading of landed her the role of Granny White

Whew that poem though

Yep. That was more than I had bargained for. That one hit. "I know you think of yourself as a good person who is trying, but . . ." Well, don't we all? Can anyone out there honestly say that there is a 0% likelihood that someone reads this poem and thinks of them?

Thanks, really enjoyed hearing about your creative processes!

Now I’m going to smell peppermint every time I hear Granny!!!💞💞💞

Wait a minute. If S1E7 was the first time the Swarm had been human, and it showed up again at Glory Ann’s at some point, does that mean it’s still active? And might show up again?

Coming to this discussion quite late, but did the audio of Betsy's reading of the poem ever go up?

Wanted to read the poem to myself, use it as an acting tool for myself, but I started crying at the part about "they won't know until much older" and it suddenly became about my sister who raised me and abused me. So, hey, Steve? Thank you so very much.

How do I find the poem?

Jo Lynn, it's under "Bonus Content", but then I had to search the page for the word "poem". Here's the link to it: https://docs.google.com/document/d/11qNs6UgmpBHos2OFz6wKfR8-dxto6ooKG9Jjh_Bid8o/edit?usp=sharing

I just wanna say if Steve Shell & Jonathan Sims (from MAG) ever do a collaboration my mind & ears will explode. It would be the best thing ever!

This is such a great poem. Thank you Steve for putting it to (electronic) paper!

Love this. I live in East Asheville Reynolds District. I love listening to all things Old God's and it is cool to me it is produced in what I consider my backyard. I have roots in NC going back into thec1800s but I grew up in Wyoming. I came here for my soulmate and it is the only other place I feel is home. The Blue Ridge Mtns call to me. Thank you for bringing your creation to life and making Appalachia come to life in your unique wonderful way.

Granny White scared the bejeezus out of me. I made the mistake of listening to this by myself in the dark.
