May's reward for Patreon Teejster1!
Feat. their Greninja OC Kyana (an actual ninja) doing some sword training!
I really seems like she wanted to take a swing there by the way.
This reward was also streamed on my Twitch channel so if you wanna see how I was working on it in real time + some goofy stuff I added You can check out my channel here: Thelightsmen - Twitch
Steps followed:
- 1- Base sketch: I very quickly sketched out the base body by checking the reference given every once in a while and got a pretty good result so far, the legs might be a little big but I think they fit for this situation!! I also saved a llittle doodle I made while reading the chat during the livestream for fun.
- 2- Extra sketches: Then on other layers I included the fishnets and the training bamboo in the foreground and colored the bamboo in a different color to differentiate it from the character.
- 3- Final sketch: To finalize the sketch phase, I got rid of the overlapping sections on the sketch.
- 4- Lineart (Character): Now with the sketch finally done, I proceed to include all the clean lines and details.
- 5- Lineart (Cutting thing): Same process as last one but with the thing she's cutting
- 6- Movement lines (Character): Now as an added bonus since this is a pic depicting movement, I decided to include several dynamic lines to convey some fast movement!
- 7- Mov. lines (Cutting thing): Same process as last one but with the thing she's cutting
- 8- Flat colors (Character): WIth all the lines complete, now it's time to include the flat colors to the character
- 9- Flat colors (Cutting thing): Same process as last one but with the thing she's cutting
- 10- Full flats: Now I simply put all the layers concerning the foreground object on top of the character so it properly hides it!
- 11- Gradients: WIth the colors in, I now include some extra gradients to each of them to get some more colors in the palette
- 12- Shading: Now I move in with the shadows and highlights, with different layers and layer settings + proper coloring.
- 13- Visual effects: Last but not least, I include a little bit of light reflection and glow along with environmental shadows!
