Hey guys! Felt like painting some goo girls teasing our poor elf nerd. I hope you like it! It's always fun painting goo and how light interacts with it. And I'm pretty happy with the painterly style I landed on for this one, it felt comfortable to paint. 😄

Here are the download links for the rewards if you wanna check out how I painted it:

This is the first full painting I've done in Krita from start to finish. I've been trying to put that software through its paces recently to see if I can get fully comfortable in it, and it's actually been really nice! I wasn't able to get comfortable in Clip Studio Paint last time I gave that a try, so it feels good to have more luck with Krita. I've attached the two brushes I used when painting it if you wanna get those. (The main brush is the same one I shared a month ago as well with variants for Paintstorm, CSP and Procreate.)

I also did some coloring experiments over the past couple of weeks, and I wanted to share some notes about that in one of the pictures here, I hope it's helpful or interesting!

I've also attached the demon sketch I did on stream a while back and its time lapse video here. I know someone asked me to post it a while back, sorry it took me this long to get it posted lol.

Super thank you for supporting me, I hope you're all doing great!

Wow! Interesting features on those slime girls, they look like they might've imprinted from some githyanki or something! Very cool way to give them a slightly eerie vibe while still keeping them totally sexy. That demon sketch is fantastic too, what a tempting piece to have finalized!

Your sketches always give me so much joy. Thanks for including them with your incredible work. 🤗

Ah, always fun to see another update, especially with the nerdy elf! And that's quite sticky situation he's found himself in 😹 As for the other goodies, the sketch is just wild! Absolutely love the painterly texture to everything and the whole scenario is just a tonne of fun. It's great seeing the story-telling in the scene, with the occult books scattered about, all of the candles and the magic summoning circle scrawled on the floor. First glance, I thought it was a fantasy scene but looking around, you see the modern furniture, see the signs and realise what's happened. Our bespectacled, ginger girl was doing some magic experiments that seem to have gone very right! 😈 The scene looks so good, love the perspective, seeing all of the furniture and its details, like engravings on the bed and the folds in the sheets. I also like the colours and lighting a lot. The centre is very warm and on the furthest edge, you have that cool blue tone coming in and tinting that area, providing a lovely contrast. Great work on this sketch, such beautiful textures to everything and I love all of the colour interactions and how well the volumes for the scene and characters are rendered! The "Doodle" is absolutely wild! Once again, I adore the painterly, hatchy, bristly textures here. The hatched look is especially gorgeous on her hair and I really enjoy the shine that you've given it. Her body looks so beautifully painted too, with a lot of vibrancy. I like the bright, pale rim-lighting on her shoulders and bum, with yellow lighting and cool, blue-tinting to the shadows spread across her body elsewhere. Her breast is especially nice with its bright rim-light and dark, purple-tinted shadows and hints of magenta in the mid-tones, making it really pop and giving it a lot of definition. The foreshortened pose and the curving arch to her back, opposing angles of her shoulders and hips and opposing directions of her torso and thighs all make her look so dynamic too. You also did a great job with the variety in textures too, with her... "toys", still being painterly but with a different feeling to the hatchy textures of the character herself. Also... lest I get too lost in technical stuff and we forget that I am actually a human and not a robot... she is stupidly sexy! Love the strap outfit wrapping around her and the teasing of her breast, showing most of it but hiding the nipple from us, making it extra sensual 🥰🥰🥰 And wow, love to see that demon lady again, this time with such gorgeous colours. Her grey skin is so pearlescent and I adore the mix of blues and pinks in her hair. Likewise, the generally purple and grey colour scheme is something I find so appealing. It doesn't hurt that this character design is just insanely hot too 🥰🥰🥰 And finally... To look at the main painting! 😹 Well, you definitely put Krita through its paces with this one, oh my goodness! 🥰🥰🥰 Looking at the whole scene, I like how you've separated the foreground and background. The background is kept more faded and less saturated, letting the sharper, clearer foreground scene and characters really pop. Of course, the background still has those lovely colour blends and textures. I particularly like the mix of pinks and yellows in the sky, as well as the pinks and greens on the rocks. I can't remember when it was exactly, but a while back, you were putting those pearlescent colours into many elements of your paintings and I see that that has become a mainstay in most of your work and it is something that I very much like! Oh, something else I like, the borders of the image foreground sort of blend away into whiteness, with a nice texture connecting them. It kind of makes me think of an illustration in a story-book, where the image is framed by the paper and blending into it. It's like we're seeing an illustrated scene of Nerdy Elf's sexy journey that's been put into a book for people to enjoy 😸 I'm going to say this next bit in one big go, so that I'm not repeating it constantly... I do so love the pearlescent colours that are mixed into all of the foreground elements and characters. The rocks, foliage and sand all have those lovely blues and pinks mixed into them, as well as some orange tones too, making everything look so vibrant. The characters as well are terrific in this regard. The elf has navy tones mixed into his skin in various places, as well as other subtle cool and warm tones that add such great contrasts across his body. The Goo Girls are equally spectacular here too, the warm tones that are mixed into them are a great contrast to their overall green colours and I enjoy the mixes of blues and navies on them as well. The rendering and details to everything are as brilliant as ever. The rocks have so much texture and volume to them, the foliage has a tonne of detail and depth and I like how they curl and twist around. Our elf friend has an obscene amount of depth and volume to his lean, muscular body. As I always say, you do amazingly at defining the muscles and how they move and interlock. I really like how his shoulder locks into the upper arm and how the bicep locks into the forearm. And across his front planes, the deep navy tones mixed into the shadows just adds so much more depth to him. The hair is a lovely blue-silver and I really like the shine to it. The metal on his glasses really pops as well with striking contrasts between light and dark. Also, is it just me... or is the stubble on his face a newer addition? Maybe all of his adventuring is making him more rugged 😹 Man... where to even begin with the goo girls 😅 Well, starting with their poses, I really like how the bottom girl is emerging from the goo pool and she looks semi-melted. It's as if she's in the middle of forming and becoming sold like the other two. The way her arm and parts of her hair fall and drip off of her in long strings looks terrific. I do also like the sensual teasing of her breast as it partly sinks into view between her arm and body. I really like the sensual pose of the top girl and how she places a hand on the Elf's chest, while giving him this intense, almost sinister look. A small detail that I like is how her other hand almost looks like it's melted/connected to the head of the middle girl. They're both solid... but not totally solid, it seems 😹 I do also like how much of her body is hidden behind the middle girl with only a teasing of the curves of her waist and hip emerging from behind her. And the middle girl just looks so sexy, with her curvaceous, voluptuous body in full view, with only the deepest part between her thighs hidden from sight. The rendering of all three girls is sensational, they shine brightly, with a lot of depth to them, while also having this sort of transparent look to them in places. The thigh and arms of the top girl in particular, have this glow to them, as if the light is shining through them. I love the definition of her shoulders and arms too, they look so toned and super sexy with the way the muscles are defined and moving. The middle girl has such juicy, luscious textures to her breasts thanks to the starkly contrasting shine spots and shadows and I love the shapes of her belly and hips as she reclines. She might have the most vibrancy, with the most amount of different colours tinting her body and she just looks so interesting and colourful thanks to that. I'm going to actually stop here... but suffice to say, I'm clearly a fan of what you've presented us with here! The painterly textures, the story-book framing of the scene, the vibrant and vivid colours and the fun and sexy scenario and characters are all just so good! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 And I wish you luck in your continued adventures with Krita!

I just luv the pink hair sketch. Any of your sketches with disembodied face snapshots are so cute!

Phyroxis

Oh man I NEED that demon sketch

NinniHei

Oh I love that Tiefling/Demon sketch! 🤩

Tredok Vayntrub

Oh damn i like goo girls, super hot, even though it makes sense it is super strange that they don't have a nose hahaha. Still this is super nicely rendered and i love the scene in general. Also, you mentioned using to Krita, i didn't know that software existed and i am super interested in open software and it runs on linux! any tips before i start using it? And, if i may ask, which drawing software is your preferred? and which do you know more? i kinda assumed that it was photoshop, and now i know that you tried CSP, the little i know about drawing i learned it on CSP when i bought my wacom tablet. Anyway lovely work as always :D

Griffin Barrows

Goo girls! Yes! 😍 Only fair for the guy to 'slimed' too lol

HamzterHero

So nice to see you being able to move around from one software to another. I used Krita before moving to CSP and now I'm hooked on CSP. Personally, I feel like Krita is also great as an open-source painting software. Glad you're getting more and more comfortable with it. I'm gonna keep improving my work with CSP.

thatmfdiego

Been passively window shopping other programs, CSP is cool, but the inability to make straight lines with shift and the weirdness the program has with making ANY textured brush lag like crazy is really getting annoying. May one day move towards something like Krita idk. Also, have you considered using a gradient map in color mode for the intermediary step of adding hue variation? I've seen other artists use that to quickly introduce hue variation before flatting things out

Sean Tyson

Thanks for sharing these, especially the summoned demon WIP. Any plans to finish it, or do a follow on series? I think it could be fun to see where the summoner goes in her search for satisfaction. 😁

I'm glad you like them, vurt! It's a habit I'm happy I've gotten into. 😀

Thank you, Ciarán! Always happy to hear you like all the pictures! The sort of pearlescent look is working out really well, so it'll be fun to continue refining that approach in the next few paintings. And translucent materials are always such a fun thing to paint, so the goo girls kinda fit right into what I enjoy painting. Maybe I should paint more of them soon! As for the elf's stubble, I guess it's not always this pronounced. Maybe the goo girls have kept him busy for a few days and he hasn't had the chance to shave lol. 😄

calm

No promises on whether I choose to finish it or not, but I'm glad you like it! 😄

Ciarán M

Well, I definitely advocate for more goo girls! The more, the merrier 😹 Even more colours of them could be fun too... that's my subtle request for purple goo girls 😹💜 And yeah, I guess when you're entertaining/being entertained by a group of goo girls, shaving becomes pretty low priority 😹

calm

Thank you! Lol, the idea behind the noseless design is that the sentient goo tries to imitate the look of people they think will be appealing to the person they're trying to attract, but it doesn't do a perfect job, so it can leave some things out by accident. 😅 Right now I think Krita might be my favored drawing software. For the past few years I've been using Paintstorm Studio, and that's been really nice, but it also has some shortcomings and won't work perfectly for all types of workflows. My workflow hasn't been very complex, so it was fine for me. However, I'll probably ideally try to move fully over to Krita. For me, the challenge of starting to use Krita was that it took a while and some effort over a couple different attempts to figure out how to set up the UI and hotkeys and all that stuff the way I want. That was a little bit more challenging than the other software I've been using, so my first impression wasn't super positive, but now that I've managed to set everything up it's really nice. And the fact that it's free and open source is the icing on the cake, I love it. People are making some pretty cool plugins for it too! So I guess my tip for starting to use Krita is to spend time setting up the UI to imitate a software you already feel comfortable in. Get rid of panels you don't strictly need, and then reintroduce them later as you're getting more familiar with the software. At least that's what I usually do when I move from one software to another. 👍

calm

Lol, I'm glad you like them, Griffin. They're fun to paint.😄

calm

All the painting software I've tried are thankfully similar enough that it's relatively easy to jump between them and maintain the same workflow. It's mostly the small differences that make me choose one over the other. CSP definitely has some nice features that are extra useful for certain styles of art and types of workflows, so I totally understand why you'd prefer it. :)

calm

Making straight lines with Shift is annoyingly something every program seems to do slightly differently, lol. Some want you to hold Shift before doing the stroke, some want you to do it during, and some after. It's a shame CSP's variant only does full strength lines as far as I can tell. I've played around a little bit with gradient maps to see if I they could serve that purpose, and they do help a bit, but I really enjoy that look of hand painted patches of color as opposed to the more even color filter type of look, so I wasn't as successful with that as I would have preferred. It's possible I just haven't found the right way to use them though. 😅

calm

I'm glad you like that one! I'm not sure if I'll finish it, but I do like that it has some storytelling to it, so there's a chance. 😀

Matty Thunders

I love when you share process work! Very nice post this month.
