Staycation Swims With Reed (Patreon)

During our same staycation with Derek and Julie Woods as when we shot 'Warhol' that was released last month, we shot this set as well. However, this was the first set we shot upon arrival to the beautiful Airbnb that we booked. Check in was at 3P.M. so Reed and I hit the road to get there right around that time. We knew we were going to beat Derek and Julie there because they had some work to wrap up before heading out for the weekend, but we did not know that we were going to beat them by a few hours. Their original projection was that they would get there by about 4P.M., but it ended up being closer to about 7P.M.

While Reed and I settled in wondering when Derek and Julie were going to arrive, we spent the first hour or so simply relaxing, enjoying the weather and the beautiful views that Joshua Tree has to offer. After some time sitting around we decided to be productive and shoot this beautiful set. It was really just thrown together last minute. We did not plan an outfit or even this shoot, we just rolled with it. Reed grabbed this crop top and a pair of Solstice Intimates bottoms that just so happened to match a four pack of Reed's Ginger Beer that we had picked up from the store before getting to the Airbnb. It was quite perfect actually; matching colors from bottle to bottoms, Reed's name on the bottle and a nice backyard to shoot a 'hangout' set.

We began shooting around 6P.M. as the sun was quickly disappearing behind the mountains of the desert. That is one of my favorite times to shoot. Bright light glowing through the sky, but no harshness; just perfectly diffused light with a warm undertone due to the sun setting. I could not have asked for any better of shooting conditions. Reed and I had a lot of fun shooting this set as she splashed around in the cold water of the giant metal tub.

As we finished up shooting this set, I believe it was actually as we shot the last digital frame, the last 35mm and the last Polaroid; Derek and Julie pulled up and waived at us. They got out of the car and remarked how they were not surprised and guessed that we would be shooting in the backyard and how Reed was probably definitely going to be naked. Enjoy!
