By painting a little distance away and taking time to put only the paint mist on the surface, the paint will dry quickly.

This method allows you to paint while holding the painted surface with your hand. Take your time to paint.

When the skin color is roughly painted, ink in the valley areas such as the buttocks and chest with enamel mucous membrane color.

I put arrows to show you which areas need to be smudged.Tips on the making process were given in the previous article.

Here we will tell you the key points until the painting is completed. I think it will be easier to understand if you also watch the making video.

Itsuki-san gave me detailed checks on the painting, so I was able to make corrections accurately and quickly.

Although the correction work takes time, it is reflected in the work, so it was very helpful to have him look at areas that were difficult for me to notice on my own. Thank you very much!

■Painting, paste the decals , eye painting, and finishing work

After the fine parts and eye modifications are successfully completed, the painting process begins.

┃painting tips

The colors used are roughly divided into the following

・Skin - Gaianotes 059, 060, Modelkasten C-12 (other manufacturers' clear orange and clear red shades can be substituted)

・Outside of the cloak, red belt of the body, ribbons, etc. - Gaianotes 003, shade black

・Black and white for homemade shades - Inside of the cloak, white belt of the body, bra parts, etc.

・Blonde hair - Ivory-like color (self-made), clear brown or clear red, clear orange

・Kanzashi(hair pin) - natural brown, black for shade black

・Flower hairpiece - pure violet, black for shade black, white

Shade black  is very versatile! Too versatile to use for shades of white or to desaturate red...

Incidentally, an ivory-like color can easily be created by mixing Gaianotes' GS-05 Surfacer Evofresh with white surfacer.

●Blonde hair painting

I used these three colors to make this blonde hair (I also used a little bit of clear brown, which is not shown in the picture)

The bottle on the left is the base color, an ivory-like color. If you mix white surfacer and skin color surfacer, you can get this color.

Pungent Plum Glorious has blonde hair that looks a little reddish, so if you dilute clear red or clear brown and clear orange and apply a little bit on top of the base color, you can gradually get the right atmosphere. If you use clear red, the color will be quite reddish, so clear brown will probably give a more subdued look.

If you slightly darken the color only at the tips of the hair, it will give a more lively look.

By the way, "isn't blonde hair closer to yellow? " If you mistakenly thought so and painted yellow, and this is what you will get this.

Blonde hair and yellow hair are totally different. I want you to think of gold, but that is a mixture of red and orange, especially red gold. So if you want to make blonde hair, you need to make it reddish, not yellow.

●Paint on the haori

The haori is large, and furthermore, it is not possible to drill holes for attaching part holders (handles). Therefore, I hold directly my hand this time.

The outside of the cloak is red, but the inside is white, so the first thing to do is masking.

Of course, it would be more efficient if the inside is shaded first and then masked, but since the outside is red, shading will have almost no effect on the red color.

Therefore, the order of masking can be done either way. Please experiment to your liking.

After masking, apply a solid coat of red.

Here is a solid coat

Shaded with clear black.

By all means, use clear black to reduce the saturation, as this will easily add depth to the color.

After drying, remove the masking and paint the inside (white part).

If you are worried about painting mistakes with lacquer, you can make enamel shade black with comparable color by mixing violet, which is made by mixing enamel magenta and cyan from Gaianotes, and Tamiya enamel smoke.

I shaded the inner part with this. It is very easy. However, the paint film is weak, so it is safe not to touch it until clear coat is applied.

The decals were applied like this.

I heard the white decals on the sleeves were delivered with the wrong color. This is actually gold, so painting over it with enamel gold will solve the problem. I have a feeling that the decal will be corrected at the time of sale.

It is desirable to find a good balance between the left and right sides and place them in a good position.

Before applying decals, smooth the painted surface with clear to make it easier to apply and reapply.

Although I did not use decal softener this time, I utilized Hi-Q Parts' decal squeegee to remove water and air.

After paste the decals, apply several coats of clear and use God Hand #4000 to #10000 to erase any bumps. Please note that if the clear layer is too thin, it will scrape off the decals.

●Painting the body (skin color)

The body is molded in one piece, so painting the inside of the thighs is a bit more difficult. As with the haori, this must be painted by hand, but in order to allow the paint to dry, a handle must be placed somewhere.

Possible locations are the neck or the legs, but I didn't want to drill large holes in the legs, so the neck was inevitably chosen.

By painting not only from the front but also from various angles, such as from the top and from the opposite side, the inside of the thighs can also be painted cleanly.

I put arrows to show you which areas need to be smudged.

The arrows indicate areas where the valleys are deep and the paint could not penetrate. Can you see the white color?

Retouch all of these areas with Enamel Viscosity Clear.

This is what it looks like after inking.

It will make quite a difference in the finished as it will eliminate unnatural white valleys. You should do this as much as possible.

Once the skin color is painted, mask the entire area using masking tape and The Good Smile Masksol.

Be sure to check whether this string was white or red before painting. If you make a mistake, you will face hell.

I put the color on the photo for reference. The places not painted in red, the cloth on the surface of the chest and the string extending from the belly button to the crotch, are white, so please don't make a mistake.

I used shade black for the red part to make a gradation, and skin color for the white part to give a slight transparency.

As for the order of application, paint the white first, mask off that area, and then paint the red.

Then remove the masking.

As you can see, there are areas that have not been painted or that stick out from the masking, so these areas are scraped off or retouched with enamel paint.

Excess paint can be removed by scraping lightly with a design knife. However, if the skin color is scraped off and the white color of the resin comes out, it can be easily retouch by thinning the mucous membrane color applying it with a brush. It's so easy.

This is about enough.

This pic shows the red color inked in the groove with enamel and wiped off. You should do this as much as possible because the impression changes quite a bit with or without the smudging.

It is OK if the front and back sides are carefully retouched.

Don't forget to apply decals to the cloth over the breasts.

Once that is done, apply color to the nipples.

Dilute enamel clear red with lighter fluid and carefully apply thin coats until the ideal color is achieved.

Enamel paints can be easily airbrushed by diluting them with lighter fluid such as zippo.

In addition, joint parts such as knees, ankles, elbows, and toes are also painted with clear red.

You can apply this area according to your own preference.

● Eye painting

For eye painting, first modify the modeling part of the eyes to a flattened state, as described in the previous article.

If you work on it, it will be easier to resemble the original illustration.

Before painting the eyes, the mouth should also be painted to make it easier to see the face. Ideally, it is possible to make an atmosphere of biting the lower lip a bit in embarrassment.

At this time, if the mouth is traced as it is, the face will not look shy. Moreover, it is not cute. If anything, the mouth looks like it is frustrated.

As is the case with the eyes, it is sometimes possible to make the mouth look cute by ignoring the shape of the mouth, so it is necessary to deal with this on a case-by-case basis.

Draw the eyes like this and paint the skin color.

At this point, Itsuki-san suggested that I put in some highlights since the border between the eyes and eyelashes was becoming difficult to distinguish. So I added some highlights.

It could be done without highlights, but the highlights made the borders more recognizable and even better.

Now that the eye painting is almost finished, I masked off the entire face and painted the hair. If the face and back of the head are not separated, this step is necessary, and if you make a mistake, you have to redo the whole process....!

●Finishing work

Finishing work is the process of applying a small amount of clear lacquer by brush or airbrush to the areas where gloss is desired after matting. In the past, I used enamel clear, but enamel may peel off. With lacquer, if you get some mistake, it can be redone by re-spraying the matte finish.

The neck was turned a little to the side, so the left bangs was slightly warmed up with an embossing heater to fine-tune it. I did this after painting, but it was done. It is best to do this during the dry fit stage.

The gloss finish is applied to the eyes, lips, nipples, and foot nails.

Once the luster adjustment is made, all that remains is assembly.

I hope you enjoy the painting process!
