Spinda is here, along with an update Slugma, Magcargo & Skarmory!

Spinda is our only new release today, technically, but she still comes with the quality standard you've come to expect from my cards lately. I must admit, I've never genuinely used Spinda in almost any playthrough -- and I usually only ever catch one for completion's sake, but that doesn't mean that she's totally worthless. All Moemon Matter!

Oh God nevermind she's garbage.

Anyway...

Slugma & Magcargo have received an update. Why? Well, a few reasons: One, Magcargo has since received a new sprite since her release, which I've moderately adapted it to with exception to her new hat (which, again, I prefer actual monster-girls versus cosplay girls). Second, I had an idea for a funny comic-ish single-panel joke with Magcargo and updated her anyways, I just haven't gotten around to actually making the comic yet. Finally, Slugma happens to be found in this Route anyways, so it felt appropriate to release them together to spice up this release.

Oh, and since Team Magma is around the corner, it felt appropriate updating some Fire Moemon to partner up with them.

Alongside the new general look for Magcargo, both have overhauled bodies/face models, as well as updated outfits, with some flare added for some outfit pieces, with literal fiery clothing using the DualScroll filter, which is quickly becoming my favorite because of it's utility as well as functionality (other filters have bugs accompanying them, but DualScroll works phenomenally).

Check them out in Studio for the full effect!

Finally, there's Skarmory.

Skarmory was also thrown in since she's also found in this Route. Funny story (and I mentioned this when she was first released), but I used to think Skarmory was a Gen 3 Pokemon. Back when I played first played Pokemon Gold, Skarmory was nowhere to be found, since it was a Silver-exclusive Pokemon. I was a privileged kid, so I actually had Silver as well, but never encountered Skarmory during my playthrough - neither did I see it in Crystal, particularly because it was only found in one Route (the Route south of Blackthorn City), and at least in Crystal, only appeared in Morning/Day, and I remember really only traveling down that Route at Night, since I played when I was home from school.

It wasn't until Gen 3 came along that I found Skarmory in Route 113, while grinding one of my Water Pokemon there. I totally caught one, too. But I always thought it was a new Pokemon in Gen 3. I don't know if anyone else had that experience, but it was only in recent years that I realized my mistake.

In fact, the same mistake was made with Slugma and Magcargo!

In Gen 2, Slugma could ONLY be found in Kanto, in only 3 areas that had very little grass area. Now, to be fair, I think I saw a few trainers with a Slugma, and Blaine had a Magcargo as his lead Pokemon, so perhaps at the time I was aware of it being a Gen 2 Pokemon, but at least in recent years, this little fact was forgotten. Until, ironically, I started making these cards, and Slugma/Magcargo popped up within the spritesheets, though Skarmory was definitely the odd-one-out.

And you can't blame me for Skarmory, at least -- no one used it! Not even Jasmine, who specialized in Steel! Way to drop the ball on that one, Gamefreak.

Anyways.. enough of that rant.

Skarmory, like Slugma/Magcargo, has an updated body/face model and outfits, but the main change comes with an adjusted hairstyle and wings, with the wings being more "spread" out to match her sprite, and not as "stiff" looking. Kind of hard to explain, but I think it looks better, visually.

Skarmory is one that I debated on actually using one of her new sprites with. And yes, she has MULTIPLE new sprites - I won't list them all, but the officially used one is this:

And while I think it looks fine, there's something about the other sprite that just looks cute, fun, and sexy. It's not the fact she's less clothed, but more of her stance, her coloring, it's hard to explain. The new one also just looks too.. busy.

Not that the sprite matters TOO much. It's still mostly a visual aid when I work on these cards. Still, I try to capture the essence of them and I feel like it worked out fine with the above one.

All of them also have the new fronts/backs.

Here are the cards!
